Ferruzza Stays Winning For Now!!!

Let's not sugarcoat it . . . The parent company buyout of The Pitch already doesn't look like a great thing . . . Or at least not as tasty as Jordan Carver.

Over at The Plog it looks like they're dishing out leftovers at a very slow pace.

Editor honcho Joe Tone was reportedly canned and is already packing his bags out of Kansas City according to the quotes he provided.

Meanwhile . . .

KANSAS CITY'S FAVORITE FOOD WRITER CHARLES FERRUZZA IS STILL WORKING HARD AND DISHING OUT CONTENT WITH A VENGEANCE OVER AT THE FAT CITY BLOG!!!

Real writers don't know anything BUT writing and remember that it was blogging that revived the career of Ferruzza at the Pitch previously.

What we know is that Charles Ferruzza is a local and one of Kansas City's best, brightest and most beloved journalists. We're thrilled to see that more than any Pitch writer lucky to be working at the moment . . . He is producing content and staying busy with an enviable bloggy speed.

Meanwhile, it would be naive to contend that corporate takeovers are anything less than a dish that's almost always served cold. New corporate parent SouthComm and ther offerings just aren't in the same league as The Pitch . . . It probably doesn't take a genius to see the writing on the wall and even more Dead Tree Media layoffs in the future.

Developing . . .

  1. Charles Ferruzza is the reason I pick up The Pitch each week.

  4. What quotes by Joe Tone are you talking about Tony? He went to the Pitch from Westword in Denver and he is the one that decided to stay with Village Voice. SouthComm is a company that was started by a former Village Voice employee and this is the second Village Voice paper they have bought. That's just kind of how weeklies have always worked. They all change hands a lot.

  6. Joe Tone was not canned. He chose to remain with Village Voice Media and he'll be moving on to one of their other publications. He's a rising star in that organization. I hope Scott Wilson will be able to continue on at The Pitch. He's a talented writer and editor.
