CHAMBER SMALL BUSINESS GROUP ANNOUNCES SUPPORT FOR KCMO EARNINGS TAX
The Business Growth Executive Committee – a council of small business owners – has voted to support retention of Kansas City, Missouri’s earnings tax. The Business Growth group is a part of the Greater Kansas City Chamber of Commerce, which also supports retention of the e-tax. Ninety percent of The Chamber’s membership is comprised of small businesses.
“I hope everyone understands that the e-tax is a continuation of how the city has operated for over 40 years,” says Karen Zecy, The Chamber’s Vice Chair of Small Business.
“Voting ‘yes’ to this initiative continues to fund critical services such as fire and police to protect our city. A thriving Kansas City provides a sound platform for businesses to grow and succeed in KC.”
Zecy is President of American Micro, a 52-year-old Kansas City-based document scanning and software company. “When we bought our new building in 2000, at 1933 Troost, we wanted to stay in Kansas City, Missouri,” Zecy says. “The earnings tax was not even a part of the discussion.”

The E-Tax is bad for small business.
ReplyDeleteGet rid of it.
If Kansas City residents were smart (this last election indicates otherwise)they will vote to keep the E-Tax. If the E-Tax fails, those of us living in Kansas City will pay more in taxes or for services like trash pick-up. So, I have to ask, why would anyone living in Kansas City vote against this tax.
ReplyDeleteIf Kansas City residents were smart they will Vote No E-Tax and saves jobs and businesses from leaving and going to Kansas.
ReplyDeleteU.S. Sen. Claire McCaskill could owe a total of nearly $320,000 in overdue property taxes, interest and penalties on an airplane ------
ReplyDeleteThis is where your Tax money goes.
It's great to get tax money from outsiders.....that's the plus of the e-tax.....sort of like a sales tax on steroids. The downside is KCMO's economy has been stagnated for 40 years to the point where we significantly lag behind the burbs now. If you want KC to grow and thrive, you're for tax reform. If you're for another 40 years of stagnation, by all means, let's save the e-tax because that's exactly what we'll get.
ReplyDeleteThe E-Tax has killed kcmo business.
ReplyDeleteThe etax is a good way to get non-KC residents to pay for the services they use. No doubt.
ReplyDeleteStill, city hall is bloated. If we eliminate the etax it should be to cut spending. There's no point in killing the etax just to replace it with sale or property taxes.
Start cutting with the overpaid, under worked firefighters. Fewer fires, more fighters? Huh? Why do we have 4 men per truck? Three was fine (until they stuffed the ballot box at a trade association meeting to change the "standard").

ReplyDeleteHA!Business Growth Executive endorsement!
Uhhhh. Opposers? That's a pretty big gaping hole in your bowl of bullshit that you're trying to sell.
Tell me again. Who the fuck, doesn't want this tax continued besides you dudes working fcr Axium?
Can I say that I admire the risk that Axium Strategies is taking with this bold "fuck firefighters" shtick? How did that come up at the board meeting? "You know who I think we should attack...? My four-year-old son's hero. No, think about it Jeff....we'll be like....Fuck Firefighters. They're dicks."
ReplyDeleteWhy people don't like KC:
ReplyDelete1. Crime.
2. Bad schools. (and don't start telling me about the Park Hill district. you know what I mean.)
3. E-tax.
Crime in Kansas City is the worst.
