TKC EXCLUSIVE!!! PAT GRAY ASSOCIATION REPORTEDLY POISONED JIM ROWLAND'S KANSAS CITY MAYORAL RUN!!!

The biggest shocker in last night's primary wasn't Mayor Funky's FAIL or even Deb Hermann's disappointing numbers.

Nope.

Jim Rowland's poor showing at the polls is what has captured the imagination of so many Kansas City political insiders today.

WORD ON THE STREET IS THAT JIM ROWLAND IS THE VICTIM OF YET ANOTHER PAT GRAY SELLOUT FOR A BETTER CLIENT I.E. THE E-TAX CAMPAIGN!!!

First let's start with the facts . . .

In my first interview with Jim Rowland we discussed his association with Gray as a possible negative in the minds of voters.

Then just a few weeks before the Primary at the UMKC Forum I asked Rowland about Pat Gray and he quickly pointed out Gray was no longer working on his campaign.

I had simply assumed Rowland had decided to dump Gray in favor of a more Spartan and efficient campaign structure. I didn't think that maybe Gray had dumped Rowland.

What's clear is this:

PAT GRAY IS PUTTING A LOT OF EFFORT INTO THE E-TAX CAMPAIGN AND WORK FOR JIM ROWLAND'S MAYORAL EFFORT HAD FALLEN OFF CONSIDERABLY UNTIL WE FINALLY LEARNED THAT GRAY WAS NO LONGER IN LEAGUE WITH THE FORMER COUNCIL DUDE!!!

More to the point: This is the latest example of a big name Kansas City political consultant failing to deliver.

In fact, it's interesting to note that with support for the E-Tax and local control . . . Jim Rowland might have done more for Pat Gray than the consultant did for him. Rowland had the luxury of paying for this privilege as well.

The Sports Authority Role For Jim Rowland, his political background and so many endorsements from big money organizations should have earned him a stronger showing but a lackluster campaign was a big factor is what turned out to be one a major Kansas City political disappointment.

  11. At least TKC leaves all the comments up - whether the commenter does or does not like TKC. JIMMYCSAYS takes off posts that he doesn't like or doesn't agree with. Like when Jimmy points out how miserable Melinda Burke looks in the picture Jimmy takes http://jimmycsays.com/2011/02/23/how-sweet-it-is/

and the comment aks how Burke is going to be different from Funk, his wife already is miserable that he's running and before you know it, the personal problems are going to arise - how will he keep them out of the office???

  12. "Big name Kanss City political consultant"?
What a joke! In a serious town like St Louis or Chicago, these wussies would be eaten for lunch.

  16. i wonder if freedom will ever get paid that 50k Rowland promised Gayle Holiday and Hasley??? After all the 50,000 newspaper thingys costs alot to print. Maybe they could recycle those meaningless things. Any way I hope their reports are in order....

  17. Gray is a Rat worst than Moreno.

  18. I hope Rowlands gets how hard he was screwed.

  19. The Chamber stipulated for Grey & Glorioso to get the big bucks for the e-tax that they officially disassociate with Rowland. They made it happen. But Glorioso's stepdaughter ran Jim's campaign.

    ReplyDelete
  20. 11:07, not quite. The Chamber stipulated that Gray couldn't use E tax money to POLL for Rowland, which they only did after Gray did it and got caught. Good ole Pat...double dipping as usual. Rowland got screwed but it's only correct because he is a dick.

  21. Rowland is a victim of his own arrogance, just like the Funk and Herman. They all got the votes they earned because of their reputations as poor politicians. Good politicians know how to talk to people without talking down to them. That's a skill Rowland, the Funk, and Herman have never developed. I'm glad none of them made it past the primary.

  22. Gray should be exposed as the drunk double cross agent he is..The Chamber should be ashamed to be associated with him. The rat

  23. 7:28 is right "Pat Gray double crossing a candidate for a payoff".... And the pay off is E-Tax Money.
The greedy rich predators smell "free" taxpayer money.

    Vote No E-Tax.

  24. No, Not Arithmetic!2/24/11, 6:45 AM

Rowland picked the same old tired people to do the same old campaign stuff the same tired way. And when you tred that same well-worn trail, you shouldn't be surprised where you end up. Paying off Freedom was only the most obvious sign.
By the way, I wonder how many votes Rowland got east of Troost. Divide that number into $50,000 and you'll REALLY see how badly he got screwed!

    ReplyDelete
  25. If you see a yard sign in a right of way, it was probably put there by Pat Gray's brother.

    ReplyDelete
  26. These consultants need to go. They are distructive to KC.

    ReplyDelete
  27. Rowland can't say he wasn't told this would happen. Now he joins the list of should have been mayors who got ripped off by Pat Gray.

    ReplyDelete
  28. Does no one understand exactly how the money was paid to Freedom. It is always channeled through Gray. Take a little time and look at the reports that mention gray or Freedom check for three years and it becomes obvious. Rowland was only running to pull some of the 3rd into smaller pieces. He never expected to really run for Mayor just helping out a few of his snake friends. Glor-o-hole probably wrote Kraske's hit piece on Hermann that is what he does.

    ReplyDelete
  29. Rowland was not going to carry any type of big numbers. I bet he did not win his 9th ward! And I will bet he did carry the 4th district. So no way was he going to win.
