Behind the scenes, here's the trend the KICK-ASS TKC TIPSTERS are noticing that everyone else has yet to discover.
LAST NIGHT'S KANSAS CITY PRIMARY FEATURED A GREAT MANY YOUNG PEOPLE EARNING THEIR WAY INTO THE LOCAL, POLITICAL, PRIME-TIME!!!
Photographed smiling at the top of this post, Katie Daily is a 23 year-old campaign manager to 4th District At-Large Candidate John Crawford and her candidate's move into the Primary has put her on the local, political fast-track.
Jason Parson is a promising young, political consultant and while Kansas City mainstream media only wants to focus on his past, it's more important that he's a young person of color working on a leading Mayoral Campaign also working with Council Candidate Ken Bacchus in the 5th District in two very successful campaigns. Last night he prevailed against much older and much more experienced competition.

Jason Grill has already bounced back from a political defeat and is a key member of the Mike Burke Mayoral team. Grill is a young guy with a SERIOUS amount of political influence and willingness to dedicate a lot of his energy to local causes.

Kemet Coleman was touted by Kansas City Mayoral Candidate Sly James as a prime example of the kind of young person he wants to encourage. Kemet has produced the best hip-hop song for any Kansas City Mayoral Candidate and IN HIS VERY EARLY 20s has already made a name for himself among this town's movers and shakers.

Probably the most influential young man in local politics, Jason Kander has been front and center supporting Sly James in his run for Mayor.

Last night also featured a big comeback for Chris Moreno who was an integral part of the team that miraculously turned around the election fate of Sharon Sanders Brooks. Moreno also works in an advising and volunteer role with other Council incumbents like Ed Ford and John Sharp. Moreno found himself on many winning teams last night.

And again, this list of young Kansas City political change agents wouldn't be complete without noting TKC favorites Brandon Ellington and Tracy Ward who defied the Kansas City political establishment and earned a spot in the general election against older and more established Kansas City political competition.
More than anything else, these young people pushing their way past the primary signals just a bit of hope for Kansas City politics.
Noted first here on TKC. Natch.
Good stuff. You should write more things like this Tony.
ReplyDeleteWith the exception of Tracy Ward they all probably took the same path- political science majors, active in their college student government and now taking the next step in their ego trip. The problem is they all learned the same tired crap in their poli sci courses while they never took an economics course. If they learned anything other than how to lie to voters it was probably how to destroy a city in some public administration class. Now they will put this knowledge to actual use.
ReplyDeleteAnon 8:10 AM
ReplyDeletePlease, don't be so cynical. Some young people really are outstanding.
Go Tracy! whohoo... On to the final round!
ReplyDelete"Some" young people are outstanding. MOST young people can't seem to get their pants off the ground.
ReplyDeleteWard is a zombie.
ReplyDelete@850 and you are dense and not open to new ideas in city hall... maybe we need a "shake up", and Councilwoman Ward has a nice ring to it.
ReplyDeleteWard isn't going anywhere except back home come the 23rd of March.
ReplyDeleteChris Moreno? Really? He is working for free, not a real consultant, more like a intern. Sharon has been telling everybody that he just keeps bothering her to keep his name part of ANY campaign.
ReplyDeleteExcellent post Tony! Daily, Parsons and Moreno are all great people. Last night was a good night for Kansas City.
ReplyDeleteChris Moreno pulled off the biggest upset in Kansas City this cycle. There are so many people glad Michael Fletcher was sent back to California.
ReplyDeleteThe Kanders rule.
ReplyDelete8:16 dumb ass-let's hope they they did take Political science because it is the study of governments, public policies and political processes, systems, and political behavior. Why are you so upset?
ReplyDelete8:16 dumb ass-let's hope they they did take Political science because it is the study of governments, public policies and political processes, systems, and political behavior. Why are you so upset?
ReplyDeleteAnd don't forget to mention Michele Watley who worked tirelessy on Cindy Circo's campaign too. She primarily served as the Volunteer Coordinator and New Media specialist but she worked in all area's of the campaign. Michele deserves some props too!
ReplyDeleteMs. Pink Hair finished a distant second.
ReplyDeleteDid Michele Watley order the yard signs that did not have the legally required campaign disclaimer?
ReplyDeleteCindy Circo's campaign needed work? the ignorant bitch had no one running against her!
ReplyDelete1029 no she did not order signs..
ReplyDelete10:00AM I'm upset because these poli sci majors are ruining our cities, states and country. If you think KCMO is a well run city keep on dreaming. Do you think a half dozen states which might actually go bankrupt is success? Is a trillion plus deficit on the federal level sustainable? These are all the result of a clueless, gutless poliical class mostly made up of those who started their political careers in college.
ReplyDelete10:37 - You're right. The educated are clearly destroying our cities, states and countries. Those who go into political science should never pursue it outside of their studies either. Imagine going to school for what you plan to later do in life. That's just crazy.
ReplyDelete***
This City deserves EXACTLY what it voted for.
ReplyDeleteThe winyesterday belongs to clinton. Adams not. Moreno he is just a liar a thief and a republican.clinton stopped her opponet moeno just kept tbe lying up
ReplyDeleteWonderful post. I noticed this too. The Kanders and Chris Moreno make every election exciting again. I would call them the best consultants in the state.
ReplyDeleteThere has definitely been a change of the guard.
Good for Sharon Sanders-Brooks, Ed Ford and John Sharp. They brought Chris Moreno on board and as usual he delivered. No surprise there for those of us consultants who have worked with him in the past.
ReplyDeleteGive the Kanders credit where credit is due. Sly was dropping fast and they pulled it together and finished over 25%. Nice work.
ReplyDeletegood article. for once...lol
ReplyDeleteTony how about you rate the biggest busts of the evening.
ReplyDeleteI would put Anne Mcgregor finishing at 11% and Nash finishing at 30% as the two of the top three BUSTS!!!
BELLY FLOP OFF THE HIGH DIVE!!!!!! HAHAHAHAAHAHA!!
For once I agree. The Kanders and Chris Moreno have really changed the landscape of local politics today.
ReplyDeleteExcellent strategiests and consultants.
Yes sir I like it.
ReplyDeleteHigh fives to Jason, Diane and Chris. Kansas City really came out on top thanks to their hard work.
ReplyDeleteSly James vs. Mike Burke. This is going to get good.
ReplyDeleteMike Sanders had a really bad night again last night.
ReplyDeleteJason and Diana are far more effective, attractive, powerful and real than the old wig-wearin' Mike and Georgia gang.
Maybe Tracy could consult Sanders on hair styles?
ReplyDeleteAnyone who would lift a finger (well maybe not ANY finger) to keep Sharon Sanders Brooks in public office should be ashamed of themselves. If they were cpable of that, which of course, they are not!
ReplyDeleteSanders Brooks, Clinton Adams, round up the same old crowd. And you don't want Sly and Mike to refuse to become mayor after they see the folks they're going to have to try to get to change their behaviors!
What could possibly go wrong?
Chris Moreno is lying piece of Shit who plays with Republicans. He should be banned from the party for his misdeeds with Tilly. And also writes all the glowing post about himself on here. No self respecting Democrat will have anything to do with him
ReplyDeleteMoreno is liar and a thief. Watch it Sharon
ReplyDeleteChris Moreno is no thief or liar. Everybody knows who posts these attacks on him. That's why their consulting firm is done after yesterday.
ReplyDeleteI think the Moreno Team is the same "Dream Team" that Royster used against Rizzo AND the KCEB - except that there was an honest judge in this case(I doubt the Brooks/Fletcher judge will be appointed County Counsellor with a guaranteed pension).
ReplyDeleteRoyster must have been on to something solid againt Rizzo. Moreno should re-engage that case, as soon as he kicks ass in the General.
Fletcher went out to the polls yesterday and lied to voters and his workers that the Missouri Supreme Court hat reinstated hime. HE IS A MISLEADER and a LIAR. I feel horrible that I told people Michael Fletcher was reinstated. I was mislead by him. I now believe that Sharon Sanders Brooks is best for our community and I apologize to those voters whom I mistakenly told this to. Fletcher also handed out FAKE ballots supposedly printed by Freedom, Inc endorsing Sly James for Mayor, Brandon Ellington for 3rd District at Large and himself for 3rd District. MICHAEL FLETCHER IS A LIAR.
ReplyDelete2/23/11 12:35 PM0 you are a liar, those ballots did not say Freedom Inc, they said Community Ballot when did you see Fletcher handing them out? You didn't .YOU ARE A LIAR. I voted for Michael Fletcher
ReplyDeleteMan, these losers are still trying to do the same old 2010 lies on Chris Moreno. HAHAHA. I am so happy he triumphed over all their bullshit.
ReplyDeleteThe Kanders, Jason Parsons, Chris Moreno and Katie Dailey are all good people. Great post for once Tony.
ReplyDeleteGreat post. I wasn't happy with all the results last night but this story gives me hope in the future of the city. The jealous remarks attacking Katie Dailey and Jason Parsons display the losing mentality of the old guard who are afraid of new competition. The only way we can hope to bring real progress to Kansas City is to allow these younger and newer politicos to have a voice. Great work!
ReplyDeleteBut this is just the primary Tony. I think if you wait till the General you will see much more from the real leaders.
ReplyDeleteKemet. mmmm.
ReplyDeleteBad people tried to ruin the career of a nice young man in Chris Moreno. I've seen him in action and he has been a part of several winning campaigns. Everybody knows he works hard and is respectful to others. Reading his success last night made me smile. Good job Chris! This was a excellent post. Few other outlets recognize the hardwork of all of these young leaders. I don't know all of them but they seem to be working very hard and their candidates should be honored.
ReplyDeleteSly James and Mike Burke! Thank You Lord!!!!!!!!!
ReplyDeleteMoreno looks for any high profile ridiculous unprofessional fuck fest campaign to work on, and then makes it all about himself and turns it into the type of political hoe down that the public dislikes. He's done a great job dividing the Democratic Party and looking like an idiot. GREAT JOB! Crawford was a distant past behind Glover, who hasn't done much campaigning at all, and he wasn't that far ahead of Presley. Nice guy, but good luck beating Glover in the general. Kander at least knows what he's doing compared to the rest of them, and has some intelligence that isn't based upon sticking roses up "big" politicos asses all the time. There are many young campaigners/consultants who aren't mentioned here, because they actually realize being featured on TKC isn't receiving a medal of honor... and ironically, those up and coming campaigners are much more talented than all the trash featured on TKC. Lastly, learn how to write Tony. If you're not spelling something wrong, then you're using bad grammar... pretty much goes along with who you're featuring here... except for Kander. Ward and Ellington are toast.
ReplyDelete4:02 It's ok Kevin. You'll get a win eventually.
ReplyDeleteKevin Hennossey has a bright future working as a consultant for student government at Rockhurst High School, or maybe even UMKC.
ReplyDeleteDiana Kander, Jason Kander, Jason Grill, Jason Parsons, Chris Moreno, Katie Daily are all names to watch. Tony, you finally wiped the cheetos off your chest and put up something good.
ReplyDeleteTo the people who think these young people just sat in class while in college....no wonder you're so clueless. Read their resumes.....I don't know about all of them, but one young consultant worked on several campaigns, served as an intern for a U.S. Senator, worked in a law office, and served as an intern at the Democratic National Convention while in college. As well as founding Young Democrats and Students for Obama, before graduated with honors. I don't call those things sitting in class gaining a big ego....I call that laying a foundation of action to back up the education. I'm willing to bet hard, cold cash that the other young people profiled also have done many such things to gain more experience and show dedication to their communities. These young adults are our future. We should be supporting and encouraging them....not attacking them. To each one of you young ones....congratulations on a job well done. Your hard work and energy are a valuable asset to our community and this old gal is proud of all of you.
ReplyDeleteDon't forget Catriese Johnson who worked to get 5th District candidate Michael Brooks past the Primary. Another up and comer - Kansas City and MO future looks good with this cast!
ReplyDeleteThe only reason Grill is on Burke's self-funded team is because Jason is employed, so to speak, at King Hershey. That is until the firm folds..
ReplyDeleteAnybody get the final results from that Anne McGregor race? How did that turn out? Surely her campaign team got her more than the 11% I saw on TV.
ReplyDeleteLOL @ 4:07 ! I thought that was Kevin too !! That guy is a complete douchebag.
ReplyDeleteLOL @ 4:07 ! I thought that was Kevin Hennossy too !! That guy is a complete douchebag.
ReplyDeleteThe Kanders and Chris Moreno have completely transformed local politics as we know it. Say bye to the old guard of consulting. Thank God.
