TKC EXCLUSIVE AND BREAKING NEWS!!! THE MIKE BURKE MAYORAL CAMPAIGN SET TO ANNOUNCE ENDORSEMENTS FROM FORMER KANSAS CITY MAYORS RICHARD BERKLEY AND KAY BARNES TOMORROW!!!

News in the Kansas City Mayoral race is breaking at a fast and furious pace.

I'm having a bit of trouble keeping up but thanks to THE MOST KICK-ASS TKC TIPSTERS I'll be able to make it.

Here's the latest.

Kansas City Mayoral Candidate Mike Burke is playing the tease when it comes to a recent campaign presser and "special guests" for his event tomorrow . . .

The line that pisses of a few TKC media buddies notes: "There will be time for one-on-one interviews with Mike Burke and special guests following the program."

But thanks to KICK-ASS TKC TIPSTERS the secret is out . . .

FORMER KANSAS CITY MAYORS RICHARD BERKLEY AND KAY BARNES ARE GOING TO ENDORSE MIKE BURKE FOR MAYOR!!!

I understand why they would want to get the nod from Richard Berkley. In my opinion, he's the greatest Mayor in Kansas City's modern history. The Republican crossed party lines and did a great deal to advance political standing for Latinos in Kansas City.

Also, I hear he's a pretty great amateur photographer as well so I'd be willing to take his advice on that subject oo.

And then there's Kay . . .

I'm putting it to you night time TKC READERS (hehe) . . . Will the endorsement of former KC Mayor Kay mean anything for Mike Burke? Remember that Mayor Funky is still running against her in his media campaign and that's probably the only race he might win.

So, like so much else . . . This one is give and take.

BUT WHAT IS MOST IMPORTANT IS THAT THE BIG NEWS OF FORMER MAYOR ENDORSEMENT FOR MIKE BURKE STARTED RIGHT HERE ON TKC!!!

And maybe this is all just for kicks or because we like taking the air out of staged political events here at TKC.

Natch.

  1. What about Cleaver?

  2. I think in the last election that Kay Barnes ran in, we all said NO MORE KAY, so can't think this helps him.

  3. Kay lost, so will burke

  4. Kay is the wonderful mayor who brought us Wayne Cauthen. She's also the lube that greased the skids for Burke's failed Renaissance North project to be backed by the city...ensuring Burke got paid and the taxpayers got stuck with the debt. Bonus: despite Glorioso working for Rowland, if Burke gets in, Glorioso will be front and center. A vote for Burke is a vote backwards, to the days of back room deals, money buying votes and scum like Glorioso on the payroll. Burke has no scruples whatsoever.

  5. Sorry, Glorioso is on Rowland's payroll.

  6. Burke-ly + Kay = moving Burkewards.

  7. Wow, I was just saying today, wish I knew who Berkely was voting for, so that I would know who to vote for! Not.

    ReplyDelete
  8. Just what we need, a conglomeration of every has been in this city.

    ReplyDelete
  9. I like Berkley. And his support proved to be CRUCIAL to Chuck Eddy's victory last time around. Not.

    ReplyDelete
  10. Berkley's for James. You are wrong Tony.

    ReplyDelete
  11. Both of them look like they've had a little face work done.

    ReplyDelete
  12. Berkley & Barnes already endorsed Burke with Citizen's Association. This isn't news. Let's get it together Tony.

    ReplyDelete
  13. Gloriso screwed that one up, she was suppose to be for Rowlands.Anytime you get in bed with Gray and Gloriso the candidate get screwed. Wake up Rowland

    ReplyDelete
  14. How funny is this: KMBC's Mike Mahoney reports that Burke's campaign literature shows the skyline of Chicago instead of KC.
How could anyone vote for a guy who isn't sure of what city he will be leading??

    ReplyDelete
  15. Didn't she endorse Alvin Brooks? How'd that work out? Oh yeah, he lost to the worst Mayor in Kansas City history. Sorry Kay, your day is over.

    ReplyDelete
  16. Funny, funny, funny.

    ReplyDelete
  17. Tony is not wrong. Watch Burke's now pointless announcement now that Tony has stolen his thunder. And Glorioso is on Rowland's payroll (hell Burke can't personally bankroll everyone!) but if hell freezes and Burke is elected, he'll stick Glorioso back up on 29 so fast your head will spin.

And Mahoney was right for a change. The skyline in Burke's ads is definitely not KC. What a dumbshit Burke is.

  18. 10:53, Berkeley and Barnes are not on the Citizens Association board of directors, so they had no vote or say so on the endorsements. They only ratify what the directors vote upon. Neither had input in the board's vote. And while the endorsement of Berkeley and Krazy Kay mean nothing, Burke apparently thinks it's meaningful enough to have a special event.

  19. Gloria get a grip you dummy. And BITCH

  20. I think these comments are way to coherent for Squid to author them.

Are you sure that's Kay? I didn't recognize her without a jumbo-size flower on her lapel.

  21. I can not imagine Kay Barnes helping anyone given she was the queen of pet projects in Kansas City. The biggest problem isn't whose running; Tt's the political environment, spin, expectations of ethnic adulation and just plain bullshit that permeates city hall and a city commission that is about as balanced, honest and effective as a pair of Depends on a 2000 pound elephant.

    ReplyDelete
  22. Mahoney's problem is that he passed it off as a truthwatch kind of issue, a gotcha story.

He should have been flip about it, instead. But I dont' ever remember him smiling, come to think of it. Wonder if he has bad teeth?

IN that same report he accused Deb of being misleading... something about her role in keeping the Ford plant in Missouri. She claimed in an ad to have led the fight, which of course isn't a factual claim, its just campaign-speak. He presented no facts, named no one else involved in the campaign that she didn't 'lead the fight', it was a long reach and nobody can truthwatch like Helling. Guess he tried, though. Whats tony's favorite word? FAIL?

    ReplyDelete
  23. Mahoney showed 1) The quote from the campaign literature making the claim that Deb "lead the fight"; 2) A clip from the campaign ad where Deb, in her own words, said she "led the fight"; 3) Deb's own lyin' statement on camera ("I DID LEAD THE CAMPAIGN"); 4) Named the politicos who really did lead the campaign for the tax credits(Nolte and Nixon).

Seems he showed Hermann to be the unapologetic (and highly skilled) liar that she is.

  24. Kay Barnes did more for this city than previous mayors and she did it with class. Don't be hatin' on her.
And the stuff about Burke and the wrong skyline? Well, whoever did that shouldn't get paid, but it wasn't Burke.
People need to look at the best candidates(Burke, Rowland, James) and vote. Get Gloria and Mark OUT.

    ReplyDelete
  25. Burke has low class cartoon mailers and low class cartoon commercials. Doesn't anyone in his campaign have a camera?

    ReplyDelete
  26. Do you think Mike is running for the Mayor of Chicago also?

    ReplyDelete
  27. Consultants, insiders, paying for endorsements, and visibility from all the same old crowd.
This will be another low-turnout election in KCMO, because the people who actually live in the city decided long ago, unfortunately correctly, that the city government has absolutely nothing to do with them except to take their money and give it to someone else.
If there would be a larger turnout, particularly of younger, more progressive voters in support of younger more progressive candidates, you would see a change very much for the better.
Look at the candidates doing the same old thing, the same way, with the same people, and ask yourself if they're really serious about CHANGING what's going on.
And then get out and vote!

  28. Anon 3:05....
She said she lead the local effort, of course she didn't introduce a bill in Jeff City.
    She didn't lie.

  29. Deb is so used to taking credit for other people's work she doesn't know the difference. Barnes is making good on Pat Gray, Al Brooks, Barnes promise to endorse Mike in the next election if he filled out all of the screening questionnaires and prepared Brooks for forum's. Brooks didn't know enough to do it himself. Wonder what happened with the Pat Gray deal? I bet there's a hella story there. Credit Brooks for keeping his word and getting Burke the ministers.

    ReplyDelete
  30. You know guys, in the General Election this might be debatable. But in the primary where you're only trying to get 50-100 more votes tomorrow than you have today, this might be a difference maker.

    ReplyDelete
  31. Ooooooh! Kay (open the city's coffers to any and all developers) Barnes endorses Burke? Maybe he should tell her, "No! No! Don't do me any favors. Please!"

    ReplyDelete
  32. Sounds like a good reason to Vote for Sly to me.

  34. Avondale's population is holding steady, and Northmoor's is up a little.

    ReplyDelete
  35. Kay Cronkite Waldo Barnes. And that's the way it is.

    ReplyDelete
  36. Well this big tip turned out to be completely wrong, T.
Burke was endorsed by someone with the COMBINED age of Berkeley and Barnes, so maybe that's what you meant.

  37. Hahahaha....he's an old fart with a BAD hair dye job!!!!Wonder what the box said the color was????

  38. Anonymous are you Funkhouser? If you are -I don't blame you for not wanting to own it.

Kay was great. Alvin lost by less than 1,000. I would listen to her....

Funk is junk...he can go and take his meddling wife with him.
