Interesting campaign pitch: One of Kansas City's most esteemed businessmen uses a robocall to announce that Mayor Funky promised to make his best effort to have everyone in this town living like a hobo.
CHECK OUT THE OLLIE GATES CALL ANNOUNCING THAT MAYOR FUNKY WILL MAKE KANSAS CITY SO SAFE THAT EVERYONE CAN SLEEP IN THE PARK LIKE A HOMELESS PERSON!!!
Special thanks to Hey Cameraman for recording it . . . It's a nice promise but very much like those old phrases about "a floor so clean you can eat off it" like anybody does that . . . Regularly.
HEY LOOK ITS A MICHAEL FLETCHER CAMPAIGN STAFFER!
ReplyDeleteIs there a more respected AA in KC than Ollie Gates? He's got skin (major donations) in the game and has broken with the convention of political elites.
ReplyDeleteFunk and Sly in the Final.
Funk by a nose.
No...Funk's hurt the city too much...and what about the "Mammy" shit?
ReplyDeleteThat's a frequent Gates customer on that bench. With Ollie continually raising the price for his ribs, who can afford rent?
ReplyDeleteFor the First time in KC’s history, care for KC's poor and homeless by establishing the Mayor's Homeless Taskforce to serve homless. The total quality of food distributed has increased by 12% and KC homeless population decreased by 12% in 2010

9) For the First time in KC’s history, Funkhouser leads the City to pay attention to and care for its education and its kids. No mayor previously cares about KC’s kids, in the public schools.
ReplyDelete10) For the First time in KC’s history, the Mayor Funkhouser drives his own car, pays for his own gas for city businesses, instead of using taxpayers’ money on hiring Mayor’s bodyguards, drivers and buying luxury limos, thus saving KCMO taxpayers millions of dollars in the long run by setting up the unprecedented role model.
11) For the First time in KC's history, Funkhouser is the only honest voice of the average people of the City to oppose using $400 million taxpayers' money to subsidize the 1000 room downtown hotel while bankrupting the exisitng KC Hotel businesses as Half of the KC hotel rooms are empty.
12) Kansas City jumped from 126th in 2007 to 60th in 2010 on U.S. Best Performing city, according to the annual ranking of the Milken Institute.

13) According to the Global 150 Metro Performance Ranking of the Brookings Institute,
Kansas City's ranking jumped from 124th in 1993-2007 to 59th in 2007-2010.

The KC metro includes KCMO centered Bi-state metro area. It may shocked you that KC ranked at the bottom globally even after spending billions of taxpayers’ money from 1993 to 2007.
14) For the First time in KC’s history, Funkhouser is completely a Mayor for average citizens, a Mayor you can talk with.
15) For the First time in KC’s history, Funkhouser is the only voice of integrity in City Hall that oppose the corrupt Trey Runnion heading the Port Authority, who cost KC taxpayers more than $10 million
What has the previous great Mayors done for Kansas City?
High crime rate, poor education system, broken infrastructure, 8000 net job loss, or 2 billion bills and over 200 TIF deals that the city taxpayers are paying for everyday, which include $20million a year for the Power and Light District.
10:00: Always nice to hear from you, Gloria.
ReplyDeletePut some shoes on those sasquatch feet!
ReplyDeleteLast campaign I was proud to have voted for Funk. His idealism seemed so sincere. Gloria's too. I stuck up for them often. But during this campaign I have seen how hateful he and Gloria have become. He's not even interested in what's best for KC. He's only trying to kill his opponents with negative attacks. And he thinks it's funny (seen the YouTube?) I don't know if I was fooled the first time around or if the office has turned them into these people so full of hatred, but he's not getting my vote again. I don't think it's been healthy for them to be in office, and I won't contribute to their further detriment.
ReplyDeleteFunkhouser is running for re-election so that in the next four years "he can make KCMO the safest big city in America".
ReplyDeleteThis from a person on whose watch over 400 homicides have taken place without a peep from his administration. Who has done absolutely nothing to bring innovation or accountability to the KCPD. And, in fact, who missed over 50% of the meetings of the police board, of which he is the only elected member.
If not dishonest, these claims are simply delusional.
And the last time (and about the ONLY time) we've heard about public safety from Ollie Gates, he was complaining to Funk and Brooks that a KCPD police van working an armed standoff was blocking his parking lot.
Hi! May I help you!!
Mr. Gates should tend to his own business, those ribs are starting to have some real competition here in the BBQ capital of the country!!!
ReplyDeleteAnd:
16) For the First time in KC’s history, the city is run by a henpecked mayor who must have his wife's presence and approval for his every official move as mayor. (I think this includes his B.M.'s!!!)
A VOTE FOR HIM IS A VOTE FOR HER...Send the mayor's wife back to Curves! Anybody But Funkhouser!
I don't think that's Gloria in all those ranting comments. It's probably Kendrick. He's off work today and scared shitless he soon will be unemployed.
ReplyDeleteAs for Ollie, he cares about one thing and one thing only: Ollie. When KCPD recently had to set up a brief command post in the parking lot where Gates is located, all Ollie did was bitch to the mayor about the business it cost him. Waaaah. Poor Ollie. Crime sucks but we all have to pay the price at some point.
The Homeless Task Force is an enormous joke. Meeting after meeting and they have accomplished nothing at all.
Funk is not the only voice to oppose the downtown convention hotel. Funk's embarrassing administration had nothing to do with increasing rankings in national studies.
I could go on but why bother? Vote against Funk on Tuesday.
In the days before air conditioning, average people used to sleep out on blankets in the parks, particularly Swope, all the time, my Dad says.
ReplyDelete10:00 am
ReplyDeleteThe sound of desperation.
MAYOR FUNKY WILL MAKE KANSAS CITY SO SAFE THAT EVERYONE CAN SLEEP IN THE PARK LIKE A HOMELESS PERSON!!!
ReplyDeleteWhat a joke.
He's been a Board of Police Commissioner for all these years of rising Homicides and crime. The BOP has been asleep at the wheel for how many years?
Funk and his BBQ Boy now that's Class. He sells meat Funk that's it. Nobody gives a shit.
ReplyDeleteOllie Gates, "we aren't hiring enough minority managers in the Parks Department." What a racist
ReplyDeleteWhat's wrong with having Minorities in management that are qualified for a position. What is racist about about having representation when a lot of the parks are in the urban core. That is a foolish statement. Minorities as well as women should be there too.
ReplyDeleteOllie...we don't hire minority managers in the Parks Department becuase...NIGGERS FUCK UP EVERYTHING!!! that's why.
