Kansas City Council Stays Mostly The Same

With just a couple of notable bright spots . . . The City Council remains pretty much the same.

The biggest shocker is that the most contentious race wasn't really even that close. In the end, JUST AS TKC PREDICTED . . . Kansas City is still a Democrat Town and Allen Dillingham didn't bring much to the table but his Daddy's money. Ed Ford took away a big victory that should signal his strength as an incumbent.

Like him or not . . . With so much big money John Sharp just wasn't going to lose.

Jan was unopposed and Cindy Circo's rival wasn't able to put on much of a campaign.

Ken Bacchus is no stranger to the City Council and really almost runs as an incumbent. I think the debate between Pastor Brooks and Mr. Bacchus should be productive.

Basically . . .

DESPITE SO MUCH RHETORIC ABOUT A DYSFUNCTIONAL CITY COUNCIL . . . KANSAS CITY VOTERS KEPT THE INCUMBENTS AND DECIDED IT WAS THE MAYOR WHO NEEDED TO GO!!!

For the most part . . . So many folks dissing the City Council without understanding many issues facing them were really doing nothing more than repeating talking points . . . Not that City Council doesn't have their problems . . . It's just the Mayor had more.

  1. In other words, there is no accountability for the City Council or the Democrat Party.

  2. And in a government where it takes at least seven votes to do anything, this is very bad news.
It's not that these people don't know what to do; it's that their typical approach to their jobs is to look out for their contributors and friends.
Maybe a new mayor can change their DNA, but I'm mighty skeptical.

  3. The new Mayor may have to face the same personaility disorders. Their first order of duty should be to do a national search for a new City Manager, Deb didn't win so her personal assistant (Schulte) should go too. Second, try to figure out how to keep the council in line and more importantly, getting them to do something.
