Cold Day Kansas City Council Pay Freeze

It could be the crowning achievement of the current City Council: The Council agreed to freeze their pay for the next four years. The Mayor is locked in at 123k and the Council stays at 61k.

It's not a bad move . . . But the rhetoric that "it's just a part-time job" represents merely the ranting of the uninformed.

  3. Wait -- she was a great Councilwoman -- I'm just wondering if she did anything else besides being on the Council.

  4. It's way past time since the rest of the labor class and lower management class workers have gone without raises for 2 years. Give us half of your salary since you only work part time!

  5. Yeah, pretty great deal...they freeze THEIR salary for the next couple of months and hose the incoming council for there (almost) full term. Nice guys. Nothing but the best for the city.

  6. KCMO City Council has always been an overpaid part-time job. Most are attorneys who are still working their business. Other City's pay a lot less than KCMO to their council or alderman. City employees have taken the brunt the last couple of years for the incompetence of the council and city management.

  8. At least John Sharp seems to think he'll have a job and won't have to go back to throwing newspapers.

  9. There isn't one of the city council worth $61,000 for a full time job if they worked in the real world. Most would be overmatched as an assistant manager at a fast food outlet.
