THE TKC WEEKLY POWER RANKINGS!!!

This week was not quite as strong as Jamie Chung showing off her athleticism and her other "assets" all over the Internets but a great many power plays registered in Kansas City nonetheless.

Let's take a look . . .

POLITICOS

1. Dr. Charles Wheeler - He's on the ballot and Kansas City is amazed at how much love this guy gets at local forums.

2. Sly James - More endorsements this week and still picking up more support.

3. Michael Fletcher - The 3rd District Candidate is back on the ballot and has has a great deal of local support.

4. Paul LeVota - He's running for State Senate and still leading Missouri Democrats.

5. Tracy Ward - She made a strong showing at UMKC forum, she's on the ballot and a great many opponents of the E-Tax are taking notice.

NEWSIES

1. Lewis Diuguid - The Gold Standard for community journalism and community engagement in Kansas City. A great many thanks to him for helping me out during the UMKC forum.

2. Jabulani Leffall - A new voice in Kansas City, helping to define the debate.

3. Kris Ketz - Still the top local anchor leveraging Twitter in Kansas City.

4. Chris Hernandez - Kansas City's Latino Walter Cronkite.

5. Hey Cameraman - Keep checking his blog because he features some great previews into local news coverage, Kansas City's BEST tech podcast AND insight into the news gathering process in the digital era.

WESTPORT PROBLEMS

1. The Kansas City Strip - Interest free money from Kansas City for this glorified party bus is just a symptom of local misplaced priorities.

2. Westport High Profile Killing - The involuntary manslaughter charge in the Brian Euston death didn't make anyone feel safer this week.

3. Small Biz Moving Out - Not so long ago, Westport was once a mini-local-retail capital of Kansas City. Sadly, that's not the case anymore. And the good intentions of The Redeemer Church aren't helping to bring about a Resurrection.

4. Everybody Hates Hip-hop Clubs - Fair is fair, there is a general consensus that hip-hop has ruined Westport and made white suburbanites scared.

5. Pot holes - In this City that works, don't expect to drive too far and keep your tires intact on the way to Westport.

This list has been compiled according to scientific TKC polling and market research data and it's a weekly comprehensive guide to local powerful people.

  4. Blacks are ruining Westport and the country.

  5. Deb's nice and has knowledge but she's tired and fading. Not enough votes for Rowland in the SW. Burke off track. Sly and Funk in the final.

  6. Props to Dr. Wheeler, a great man who has served his community well. But KC needs someone who is both a leader and a unifier, and only one person fits the bill: Sly James.

  7. Tony...you've finally got an accurate assessment of Westport. It's gone from Yuppie mecca to Slum hangout with a dishonest huckster front man....Bill Nigro.

  8. And Tony we ain't scared
    We just ain't stupid.
    Game on...
tony is a race baiting pussy and I dare him to man up face to face.

  9. Chris Hernandez is a good journalist, period. Not everybody has to divide each other into as many tiny groups as it takes to appear competitive.
And Luis Duiguid is a sad old guy stuck in the '60s wiritng about civil rights marches and articles about the details of his family. A total waste of newsprint.

  10. Tony Diuguid! You must be so proud. You learned race-bating from the master.

  11. Fletcher was never off the ballot. Only in his crazy, drunk mind.

    ReplyDelete
  12. There's a document on here that said he was.

    ReplyDelete
  13. NO there is not. There is a document responding to a lawsuit he filed. There is also a lawsuit filed from July. Fletcher is only finding out about it now because he was in California.

  14. re: Westport

1: The Strip was still stupid Friday night.

2 & 4: Americas Pub should simply be closed by it's landlord KRTEK.

3: Small biz is getting a foothold again after years of Winbury greed and bad Bill ideas that favored only the bars.

    5. What pot holes?

  15. Jungle Bunny Dufall is still the worst radio person in KC (or any other city for that matter)....Just hideous. On the other hand, lets all give him kudos because we HAVE TO....He is a nigger after all..
