Kansas City political insiders know that Mr. Peanut's money decides elections.
Also, time is a thief and this will probably the last Kansas City Mayoral election for Mr. Peanut and the final opportunity to secure his legacy as a local king maker with the longest streak of consecutive, political victories in this City of Fountains.
Everybody wants to go out on a winning note.
So, I heard the news last night and confirmed it with Deb's friends, all off the record of course . . .
RIGHT NOW EVERYONE SAYS MR. PEANUT AND HIS MONEY WILL BE SUPPORTING KANSAS CITY COUNCIL LADY DEB HERMANN IN HER QUEST TO BECOME MAYOR!!!
This is a big deal because it confirms that The Big Guy is finally finished with Mayor Funky and won't be bankrolling the FAILED tenure.
Also, this is a move that has a great deal of influence over a cadre of Kansas City independent political donors that don't necessarily fall along party lines.
Mr. Peanut typically moves late and fast in political races so it might be awhile to see the impact of this decision that we hear is final. We'll have MORE REPORTING AND PERSPECTIVE on this move later in the day. Nevertheless, the preliminary win for Deb Hermann is HUGE and historically this BIG MONEY endorsement is the determining factor in Kansas City elections.

ReplyDeleteHow does this work? A rich guy who is rarely seen and that I don't know decides to back a candidate and I'm supposed to be moved enough to vote for that candidate on his endorsement? I gave up being a lemming at 5th grade. Hermann is part of the old guard. DO NOT RE-ELECT THE INCUMBENTS!!!

ReplyDeleteGruff biker lady could not manage to show up at Forum on time Sunday morning at All Souls Unitarian. I saw her sitting at Starbucks right before drinking coffee with her handlers.

Kansas City elections are non-partisan, but Hermann is a Democrat. She's doing a good job on council, I suspect she will be the next mayor; hope she's able to keep up the good work. For everyone who is on the "throw the bums out" train, do yourself a favor and look at each of them as individuals. You will feel batter about our next Mayor.
ReplyDelete1:00 You are a blind fool. We are looking at individuals but we also have to look at how they act as a group and this council did not rise to the occasion. Petty bickering and mudslinging is not my idea of a professional government worthy of making decisions about my hard earned tax money. Going around town telling everyone whatever they want to hear means about half or more are being lied to. I prefer honesty if that is not too much to ask.

Deb is not a Democrat. She switched to the other side when she started to run for council. She was okay as our committee woman, but she made a calculated decision to move to the democrats for a city-wide seat. Screw her. What is Sly James? I heard he is a Republican?

But if you just turned that frown upside down, learned people skills, and started looking into the good things that the council has done, you would see they outwieigh ANYTHING you would think would be bad. All while having someone as mayor who only cares about being able to pay his wife. We need a mayor who has people skills and puts Kansas City first. A mayor who promotes kansas city and its leaders, not rips them down every chance he get. Thank god we had a council like we have had otherwise NOTHING would have gotten done.

The throw out all incumbents attitude is just stupid. Deb has never told anything to anyone just because they wanted to hear it. The city's next budget will reflect that our economic situation is turning around. Funk is trying to take the credit for it when in reality he did nothing. One year he didn't even turn in his copy of the budget! The credit for our balanced budget goes to Deb and she has earned and deserves all of her endorsements. She is by far the best candidate.
