TKC EXCLUSIVE!!! FACEBOOK OFFERS FIRST KANSAS CITY MAYORAL POLLING INFORMATION!!! SLY JAMES LEADS!!!

No, Facebook is not shutting down March 15.
In fact, the social networking giant gives Kansas City a first real look at where the Mayoral candidates stand.
ACCORDING TO FACEBOOK, KANSAS CITY MAYORAL CANDIDATE SLY JAMES HAS MORE FRIENDS THAN ANY OTHER CONTENDER!!!
Check the SCIENTIFIC polling methodology developed by TKC and note that it is both more objective and accurate than so many other skewed info used by politicos.
Here's how the "poll" was developed . . .
Take the highest number from either a Facebook like or profile page and simply COUNT!!!
Also, these numbers shouldn't be discounted because of any demographic information given that social networking is for old people and computer users i.e. people who vote.
I won't argue that this info is perfect but it's certainly more objective than any data delivered by a political consulting firm.
Here's how the numbers break down as of this writing:
Sly James: 2320 Friends
Deb Hermann: 781 Friends
Re-elect Mayor Funkhouser: 689 Likes
Mike Burke: 625 Friends
Jim Rowland: 340 Friends
Henry Klein: 172 Friends
Again, if these numbers weren't a big deal than ALL of the Mayoral Candidates wouldn't be on Facebook looking for buddies.
A really big Facebook lead for Sly James on a page that's openly available to all of the public might be a sign that his candidacy has a bit more online grassroots support than most people realize.
In any event, this early look at the Mayoral "friends" of Kansas City voters provides a nice glimpse at the new, digital landscape of local politics.
Developing . . .
If the investigations of corruption were to proceed in a timely fashion, the voters would reject Funkhouser, Hermann and Burke. They are all dirty.
ReplyDeleteRowland has the financial support of the usual crowd that are constantly being awarded huge city contracts and he has a reputation of being an asshole, so he should be rejected too.
That leaves only James and Klein.
Interesting choice....between the most popular and the least.
No, Chastain. Don't get your hopes up.
James, no one knows him because he's never done anything significant. Typical populist hope and change. blah blah blah.
ReplyDeleteTKC - how many of his friends actually live in KC - note that his donors live in many cities outside of KC.
ReplyDeletealso 9:12 - you overgeneralize - and Sly James makes a lot of money suing the City (our tax dollars) on behalf of his clients.
"no one knows him" (?)
ReplyDelete2320, & that's just on Facebook.

ReplyDeleteYou can say a lot of things about Mark & so can I, but he is not a hater or a crook.
What would we do without Facebook.
ReplyDeleteWow!!!! I know a lot of people 50 and over on Facebook....NOT!!!
ReplyDeleteThis means nothing. 70% of the primary vote will be Kansas City residents older than 50 years old...and very very few of them are on Facebook.
Byron 9:27- That sums it up.
ReplyDeleteI'm a Facebook "friend" with my brother-in-law, but I wouldn't vote for him for mayor.
ReplyDeleteThis is just stupid. Lets infer, istead, voter support based upon what market the candiadtes shop at.
ReplyDeleteTony you are a fucking idiot.
ReplyDeleteBut Tony, how many of these people are "friends" with ALL OF THEM?
ReplyDeleteYou do much better as an aggregator of serious journalists reporting than when you try to go out on your own.
In fact, this is about the stupidest thing even you've eer posted!
How many of those "friends" are real people? How many of them are out of work Chicanos who learned how to set up free email accounts?
ReplyDelete9:22 Sly is a lawyer he is supose to sue people if that is what his client's remedy is. Did you ever think about why Kansas City is in a position to be sued in the first place. You are also inaccurate in where his support is coming from. The majority of his donors are from Kansas City.
ReplyDeleteHerman is part of the City Hall Gang that ruined KC.
ReplyDeleteThe NAME should be your WARRENING-----Sly----
ReplyDeleteHow about the name Funkhouser. Won't vote for that. Thats right what is in a name? Sly James is a very intelligent man he will not be KC's FOOL like Funkhouser. Whether he makes it as Mayor or not he will never be in that NASTY category with Mark Funkhouser.
ReplyDeleteThe Facebook Kool Aid is now being served.
ReplyDeleteWow. This is almost as scientific as creationism or phlogiston. Excellent polling.
ReplyDeleteMahlon Davis 5Th District At Large Candidate
ReplyDeleteWeb Page:
Mahlondavishereforthepeople.com
Sly is short for Slyvester, What is the point? Will someone please tell Mahlon Davis and that crew that they don't have a chance in hell
ReplyDeleteThis is the best I've ever read on TKC. Yes, Tony, you are definitely a piece of work.

ReplyDeleteHaving said that, Mark doesn't have the social skills necessary to be an effective mayor.
I still think Mr. James is your best choice.
Who would you vote for if you were being objective?
Deb Hermann only has 375 friends
ReplyDeleteTony KC lied

That's Mayor page, TKC said he picked the one with the higher number. Check her friend profile:

Tony could have listed the lower number for Funk too but he picked the higher one.
Please learn to use the Facebook search function.
THEY ALL SUCK.
ReplyDeleteLOOK AT IT THIS WAY, SLY HAS PEOPLE UNDER 50 WHO WILL GO TO THE POLLS AND PEOPLE OVER 50 WHO WILL GO TO THE POLLS. IN EITHER CASE HE WILL HAVE MORE THAN 50 GOING TO THE POLLS. IF 1000 OF THOSE FRIENDS ARE KC VOTERS AND LOYAL SUPPORTERS AND THEY GET TWO FRIENDS TO VOTE FOR SLY AS WELL. THEN THAT IS 3000 UNDER 50 VOTERS WHO ARE NOT TRADITIONAL PRIMARY VOTERS ON TOP OF THE TRADITIONAL VOTERS YOU KNOW HE IS PURSUING. SOUNDS LIKE A POSSIBLE GAME CHANGER. THIS MAY NOT BE TONYS BEST WORK, BUT THE INTERNET IS A POWERFUL BEAST AND SLYS TEAM IS GETTING MORE ACTIVE. SEE FOR YOURSELF. LEAD, FOLLOW, OR GET BEHIND. YOU'VE HEARD IT BEFORE.
ReplyDeleteHere is my perception of the field.
ReplyDeleteMark Funkhouser: a political nuisance who just won't go away. He isn't a crook but he offends often and makes KC look totally inept. Now he has Black grandchildren coming according to the one drop rule and the Black community should support him because of this.
Jim Rowland: people consistently thik he is a dick and he sounds like a meandering pussy cat. He has brief experience as a council member. He left before his term expired. He worked with Sports Authority with questionable MBE results. The usual majority companys did well, but other than Gayle Holiday what minority participants really made any money?
Sly James: 1st Black Partner of a major law firm in KC, President of Metropolitan Bar Association, small business owner, no elected experience as a government official. Well regarded amongst his peers as a highly intelligent professional and problem solver. Demonstrated leadership on various civic boards and a competent mediator. Lots of financial support from many donors but no major endorsements. Great Mayoral attributes if you don't count his profession against him.
Mike Burke: A savvy attorney who has made a lot of money through government contracts, well respected among his peers, previous council experience, lots of public administrative experience, but has some questionable business dealings with port authority. Overall a congenial person with great Mayoral potential.
Deb Herman: Embattled city council member linked to the dysfunction of local city government with Funkhouser. The least formally educated of all the candidates but lots of community service experience. Sort of a bulldog in a skirt that has enjoyed more than her fair share of Stephanie Moore moments in recent forums.
Henry Klein: We won't waste time here.
