Redeemer Fellowship Church Statement On Impending Westport Road Demolitions!!!

Most neighborhood squabbles bore me but so many Midtown folks have been playing the role of martyr because of a recent Westport building takeover and businesses kicked to the curb.

So many 4th District denizens deplore any more parking spaces in this town on general principal.

Recently, the Redeemer Fellowship Church promised no "significant parking" will be added and explained their side of the story.

Check it:

"This Spring, we plan to host a group of graduate students from KU’s Urban Planning program who will research and propose potential uses of the space. As we consider possible uses, we will consider what would be best for our neighborhood and our city. We can say that no significant parking will be added, and that parking was not a consideration in making this decision.

In line with our mission statement as a church, we remain resolutely committed to God's glory and the good of Kansas City. We trust that this decision, though difficult, will have a lasting and positive impact in our neighborhood."

I don't know if more Jesus and less local, small biz will save Westport but with ongoing reports of murder, more KC crime and continuing local economic FAIL . . . It seems like now might be the right time to start praying.

  1. This is all such a load of crap. This church should leave Westport alone. If you need parking, and can't be custodians of historic buildings then why not move to the burbs? I wish the preservation community would get as upset about this as they did about the Balcony Building on the Plaza.

  2. I'd like to see Tony use the same treatment on other religions, their symbols and images of their founders as he does on Christianity.

First off, you could try it with Islam.

Those guys are peaceful and all, so it shouldn't cause too many problems.

  3. Best wishes admins.

  4. 4.5 years later, would you like to write an apology about your assumption? Looks like 39th & Westport Road is more lively with small business and local art than it ever has.
