TKC EXCLUSIVE!!! Taxpayers Unlimited And Effusive Praise For Mayor Funky!!!

Sure, Mayor Funky got the endorsement from Taxpayers Unlimited because of his unquestioning support of just about everything related to MAST which includes a pricey $30 million payday . . . However, I don't think mainstream media reports made it clear just how much this voting bloc loves the mayor.

In fairness and thanks to KICKASS TKC TIPSTERS, check out the flowery love letter to Mayor Funky from Taxpayers Unlimited that hasn't been posted anywhere else yet:

Taxpayers Unlimited Kansas City Mayoral Endorsement 2011

Kansas City, MO – On behalf of over 1700 Fire Fighters, Emergency Medical Technicians, Paramedics, Assistant Prosecuting Attorney’s, Public Safety Professionals, and their families; Taxpayers Unlimited, Inc. is proud to announce their 2011 Kansas City, Missouri Mayoral Endorsement. Taxpayers Unlimited, Inc. came to this decision based on the candidate's legacy of work and caring attitude towards Public Safety, Working Families, the Citizens of Kansas City, and their Community Involvement. Taxpayers Unlimited, Inc., representing the International Association of Fire Fighters Local 42 of Greater Kansas City Missouri, has unanimously endorsed the Honorable Mayor Mark Funkhouser for re-election as Mayor of Kansas City 2011.

In crucial times such as these the Mayor has shown that he has the knowledge and wherewithal to guide the city on a path to recovery. His ability to crunch numbers while looking out for working people and their neighborhoods, and his keen sense for thinking outside the box has and will continue to benefit all Kansas Citians. For this he has earned our highest endorsement.

Again, it's important to point out that Kansas City doesn't really have true Democracy and usually local elections come down to a collection of special interests competing with one another.

And while other cities move toward cutting services for police and fire services during this age of austerity and global financial turmoil . . . Kansas City hasn't dared to offend these voting blocs . . . This memo offers a bit of a clue as to why this trend hasn't taken hold in this backward town

  2. His ability to crunch numbers! What a joke! The only number the firefighters care about is how overpaid and overstaffed the department is! And those with the means continue to flee the City so the burden of their overfunded pensions falls on those who can least afford it.

  3. Not even the firefighters agree with Taxpayers endorsement. What a joke. And MAST just wants money, so they'll do ANYTHING to get it, this is proof positive.

  4. Quit your whining if the fire department needs money we'll just layoff some more city employees -- problem solved.

  5. Has funk even collected the necessary signatures to get on the ballot?

  6. The entire city knows what kind of person Funky really is. That B.S. is just that B.S.

  7. 11) For the First time in KC's history, Funkhouser is the only honest voice for the average people of the City to oppose using $400 million taxpayers' money to subsidize the 1000 room downtown hotel while bankrupting the exisitng KC Hotel businesses as Half of the KC hotel rooms are empty.

    12) Kansas City jumped from 126th in 2007 to 60th in 2010 on U.S. Best Performing city, according to the annual ranking of the Milken Institute.

    13) According to the Global 150 Metro Performance Ranking of the Brookings Institute,Kansas City's ranking jumped from 124th in 1993-2007 to 59th in 2007-2010.

The KC metro includes KCMO centered Bi-state metro area. It may shock you that KC ranked at the bottom globally even after spending billions of taxpayers’ money from 1993 to 2007.

    14) For the First time in KC’s history, Funkhouser is the only voice of integrity in City Hall that oppose the corrupt Trey Runnion heading the Port Authority, who cost KC taxpayers more than $10 million

    15) For the First time in KC’s history, Funkhouser is completely a Mayor for average citizens, a Mayor you can talk with.

What has the former great Mayors done for Kansas City?

High crime rate, poor education system, broken infrastructure, 8000 net job loss, or 2 billion bills and over 200 TIF deals that the city taxpayers are paying for everyday, which include $20million a year for the Power and Light District.

  8. Rank and file of 42 thinks this is bs. Louie is gone next election unless he retires to save face. The rest of elected leadership is gone soon after.

  9. Any notion that Funkhouser has even tried to reduce crime in KC or even knows much about how the KCPD operates is without any basis in fact, as even a brief discussion of those issue with him readily demonstrates.
And his latest (better late than never) five-point plan, which includes the moribund "Schools First" and "New Tools" ideas, both of which are long dead, as well as mindlessly adding police officers and buying them nifty new stuff, doesn't even begin to address curbing crime and violence in any serious way.
Officials don't get re-elected for talking and claiming; they get considered by what they do.
With two murders in the city every single week of the year, crime is certainly not an issue that Funkhouser can run for re-election on.

  10. at least funkhouser did not cut $15 million from KCPD, like the rest of the council did

  11. Funkhouser is done.

  12. Fire, EMS and whoever else they named believe that taxpayers Unlimited is the biggest scam that Louie and Sherwood run! They need to both rot in jail and become some big man's butt buddy.

  13. At least Ms Hermann didnt pay for an endorsement. Rowland and Glo sold there souls.

  14. You forgot or intentionally left out, For the first time a Mayors wife racks up millions in lawsuits while not being a City employee yet the Taxpayers still flipped the bill.
