Mayor Mark Funkhouser has asked U.S. Attorney Beth Phillips to consider assigning an investigator to examine the Kansas City Port Authority.
Fun stuff and right out of the desperate politico play book . . .
And for this imaginary investigation I might suggest some other topics:
The fact that Mayor Funky's son is getting more cash than Jeff Roe at this point from Mayor Funky's campaign fund . . . It's not illegal, just some interesting nepotism for the Mayor to look at . . .
How about all those appointments to Kansas City boards and commissions courtesy of Mayor Funky for some of his
There are dozens of other interesting things an investigation could look at . . .
My favorite is a 10k donation from Julia Kauffman and then Kansas City building a 1000 parking garage for the ugly ass PAC . . .
Call me paranoid (while I could give a damn about the shenanigans at the Port Authority) . . . But Mayor Funky playing Inspector Gadget with the Feds just proves that Funkhouser is desperate and doesn't have any real idea about own corruption.

ReplyDeleteFeds are looking at several areas of City Hall already. Housing Department (Deb Hermann's involvement when Housing committee chair); Citadel where two indictments are already in, and now Port Authority where Burke was supposed to be the watch dog. Only problem for the Funk is he is part of city government so he has to take responsibility for everything in the public's mind. Sly, Rowland, and Klien just stand by and watch all this unfold.

ReplyDeleteJeff Roe did the same thing for a client in Jefferson City. Roe then said the oppoenent (Judge Brown) was under investigation. Look for an ugly mailer against Mike Burke to tie him to a legal investigation of one of Burke's client.
ReplyDeleteBurke and Funk are fighting with Deb Herman for the same Northland votes. No one south of the river knows Burke or Herman.
Feds may be investigating Housing, but Deb is not the target. Cauthen dismantled the department and began putting cronies and incompetents in charge shortly BEFORE Deb was chair of the committee.

Thank God! Let the FEDS in .... but honestly, Justice Department will not open an investigation on funk'd's say so. And not one during the city hall elections.

ReplyDeleteFeds dont have staff to investigate city hall anymore. They've all transferred over to TSA to get in on that pat down thing at the airport.
ReplyDeleteI think the Feds should pat-down people as they enter and exit City Hall, and sometimes when someone is just sitting at their cubicle just feeling sexy after taking a handful of herbal hormone pills and washing them down with a big quaff of green tea. The subject could be taken into a bathroom stall for the pat-down, because you can get a surprising number of people in a bathroom stall if you really are committed to the endeavor and if your feeling really horny.
