It's exceedingly interesting that people looking to survive in a Kansas City Area suburban hideaway are turning to illegal drugs during economic turmoil just like any other impoverished part of this town.
Despite recent crackdowns JoCo weed busts are on the rise as suburbanites attempt to find refuge in American's last cash crop:
"Johnson County sheriff’s deputies are busting far more home-based pot operations.
Prosecutors on Wednesday charged an Overland Park man after deputies raided his home the day before and found 14 marijuana plants and a quantity of the harvested weed.
That is the seventh such home raid this year in the county, including one at the house of a former officer in the sheriff’s department. There were no such pot raids last year, said Deputy Tom Erickson."
The lesson here is that people facing harsh times aren't so different despite their socio-economic background. Of course there's the standard PR line that doesn't want to admit the obvious trend but I'm pretty sure that's in every po-po PR manual.
Even better, more pot in JoCo could mean a more relaxed and mellow pace at which Kansas steals KCMO jobs and population.
Just goes to show that misplaced priorities and wasted money can be found all over the metro.
ReplyDeleteAnd the sheriff isn't even running for re-election!
leave'em alone. most of those home-based operations are for personal use and close friends. surely the cops can be concentrating on other crimes that have much more important consequences than someone getting high on a friday night.
ReplyDelete14 plants. oh that's really gonna bring in the big bucks. sheesh...
addendum to 7:04... and btw... isn't 'home grown' better than funding the drug cartels in mexico and south america???
ReplyDeleteYeah... legalize it Johnson County!
ReplyDeleteWait, wasn't there just a couple of random shootings at people's homes in JoCo? Where were the cops for that? Oh, right, busting up people growing plants in their homes.
ReplyDeleteThat's why God made it a weed!!! So it can be FREE for EVERYBODY! What part of that don't they understand???
ReplyDeleteThe people who drink alcohol everyday have decided that marijuana is a "dangerous narcotic". This was determined by an act of congress, not science. Congress also instructed the police to lie about the street value of any seized marijuana.
