Prop A. Passes In Kansas City

KCTV5: Missouri Prop A Passes Easily . . . That Kansas City even hates The E-Tax was the "hot rumor" (ew) yesterday and maybe hints that maybethere's not so much of a divide between rural and urban Missouri . . . Maybe folks are just broke and don't want to pay taxes.

  1. Retired folks who pay zero in etax, the first thing to be cut will be free trash pickup. How much will that cost you? Next will be fire and police protection. I can certainly see why we dont want Johnson County folks paying our etax.

    Smart

  2. Trash collection fees are included in your water bill-nothing is free. Other cities, (Greedy Politicos), large and small, function just fine without any E-Tax revenue. Even if the tax is successfully repaeled, the city council still has 10 years to replace those funds. Maybe the new $300 million Downtown Hotel will generate enough revenue/taxes to cover any losses from the E-Tax deficet? Power & Light District? Sprint Center? Nobody seemed too worried about the city's revenue/general fund when those projects were approved. Why worry now?

  4. Make the coupon clippers on Ward parkway pay.
Make the lawyers that use the KC court house pay.
Make the Doctors who use our hospitals PAY.
Make the Millionaire ball players pay when they play out of town games --after all the company is located in KC and the checks are written on KC banks. When they all pay then I will "think" about an etax.

  5. 5:28 - who told you that the trash pick up comes out of your water bill? IT DOES NOT. You are the typical idiot that voted for prop A. Hope it works out for you when you don't have trash pick up or snow removal.

  6. TONY: St. Louis City voted 32% for PROP A. Kansas City citywide voted 52% for PROP A. I wonder why difference in STLS and KCMO PROP A votes? Could it be just the urban/suburban 4 county layout of KCMO? Or was PROP A just a vote of confidence in City government - STLS thinks more highly of ours than we do ours?

  9. We're already taxed of our incomes to fund the city! The E-tax is a double tax on the same income. I don't know how it ever became legal. It reeks of lawyer-speak and political slight of hand. And, for the record, I'd rather spend a set amount for services like trash pick-up than a ballooning payment according to how much I earn per year. That's just raping Kansas City citizen's bank accounts.

    Prop A! We won!!! Whohoo!
