Like it or not, The Get Up Kids started in Kansas City and remain one of this town's most successful bands.
That's right, Kansas City must take a great share of the blame for emo music's mainstream success.
Nevertheless, the new direction of The Get Up Kids seems encouraging . . . The band's fifth full-length album will be released on their own imprint: Quality Hill Records.
So, they're actually more independent than ever before and it's nice to see a rather successful group struggle to capitalize off their win streak with a bit of local DIY spirit . . . Also, I don't mind admitting one of their latest videos is actually pretty good.
Never heard of them.
