Ed Ford: Kansas City "Committed" To 1,000 Room Downtown Convention Hotel

KC Biz Journal reports on the first Monday meeting for the next local FAIL . . . Subcommittee considers Kansas City convention hotel proposals: "Councilman Ed Ford said Monday that the timetable for the convention hotel will need to be reworked but that the city remains committed to the project."

  1. Ford "We will try to get something done sooner or later." I vote for later.

  2. Much later! This is Ed pandering to the Heavies, pure and simple. Selling his vote, same as always.

Do not forget that Kim Carlos is working that Hotel (ewww), and she has staged several pay-for-play events for Big Ed.

  4. Carlos isn't working for Ford, 6:50. Get your facts straight.

    Memo to T Botello
    From Inafunakaboutthefunk (retired)
Tony, you should keep a list of all the council titans who vote to make this project happen and hound them to the very furthest edges of hell when the project gets built (over budget), goes bankrupt and leaves the City holding the bag on a hundred or so million of bonds that these morons will have sold and had the City (citizens) guarantee. I have been out of sorts for most of this year and haven't posted at all during that time but after reading this, I could not help myself. I think that Mayor Smart With Nothinghouser is certainly doomed (robocalls, town halls and the whatevers) and whatever hope he has you and the rest of the people will squash forever soon enough... this boondoggle will remain with us much longer and, unlike the Funk who was allowed to sprout up, should be stopped if at all possible.

Oh well... I am too old for all this. Have a Happy Thanksgiving, Tony Botello, King of All Blogs.

  6. Yes, 6:50, get your facts straight. The Heavies have NOTHING to do with building hotels. However, the Builders Association (where Ed's opponent Allen Dillingham is employed) has EVERYTHING to do with the construction of a new hotel. Get it straight.

    ReplyDelete
  7. Build the fucking thing.

    ReplyDelete
  8. BTW - Inafunk is also Susan Ramirez...she uses a lot of names.

    ReplyDelete
  9. We should build it otherwise we will start losing conventions we should easily get to cities like Dallas who are building a similar hotel. Even though it's taxer payer funded, the small businesses are the big winner in this.

  10. "Carlos isn't working for Ford, 6:50. Get your facts straight."

    11/23/10 6:52 PM

That is a lie. She has organized birthday party fundraisers for Ed and funneled other cash to him.

11/23/10 6:52 PM would you happen to be one of the people who Kim Carlos pays to comment on the blogs?

    ReplyDelete
  11. 7:19 you get your facts straight. If the new hotel requires excavation, sewer and water services and other utilities, the Heavies are involved. But actually, usually what is good for the Builders is also good for the Heavies and all too often, very bad for the tax payer.

    ReplyDelete
  12. Carlos has a contract, thanks to Circo, with the Hotel Committee,,,a real brain trust led by Circo and Bill George. This should be the end of Ed Ford in public office.

    ReplyDelete
  13. Can't they just shut city hall down til the first of the year? They're all just so damned BUSY down there. Like a room full of kindergartners.

    ReplyDelete
  14. 7:19. You are a stooge. Dillingham works for the Home Builders. The Heavies play into these big contracts where infrastructure is involved. You are either brain dead or on Pat Gray's payroll. Ed has already taken $1,250 from Desoigne at the Heavies. They OWN Ed Ford.

    ReplyDelete
  15. Carlos does hire people to work this blog and others at about 10 bucks and hour.

    ReplyDelete
  16. The engineering firm Tetra Tech held a fundraising-birthday party for Ed Ford hosted by Kim Carlos in '08. I am sure she has been "friendly" to him since then.

    "Get your facts straight" 6:52

    ReplyDelete
  17. 6:52 is actually correct.. Tetra Tech had a fundraiser but Teresa Loar, who is Ed's best buddy, was responsible for that. Carlos didn't hand Tetra Tech to Ed. Teresa Loar did. That is the fact.

  18. WOW

    So much "fact-straightening"!

    It's exciting!

    yawn

    ReplyDelete
  19. I thought Thersa Loar just did the work at the Tetra Tech fundraiser, but Kim Carlos still billed the firm for "services?"

    ReplyDelete
  20. That does sound like Kim Carlos. Bill first. Work Never.

Tony, find out more about this allegation of Kim paying people to blog for her and her clients.

  21. Dillingham is overworked on this.

    ReplyDelete
  22. There's no reason to build a new hotel if the convention center isn't big enough to hold bigger conventions and if the only thing for conventioneers to do is go to P&L.

    ReplyDelete
  23. Just another reason to vote no to the E-tax. These fools and city hall cannot wait to throw away your tax dollars.

    ReplyDelete
  24. Just as the voters are about to have a chance to decide on the e-tax, the council moves forward with their latest example of incompetence and irresponsibility. Close to $1 million has already been spent on consultants and studies on the hotel and it looks like a perfect set-up to need taxpayer subsidies as far as they eye can see.
Don't pay any attention to what we actually do is still the way city hall operates.
Behavior has consequences, especially something like this which these folks insist on sticking right in the public's face.
But can the consultants trick and scare the public in yet another election campaign?
    Maybe not this time!

    ReplyDelete
  25. If it's built, then 5 years later they'll be saying we need a new arena or convention center. Poor downtown.

    ReplyDelete
  26. Ed Ford should be committed if he is committed to the hotel idea. We can't afford it. Pure and simple. Of course, we couldn't afford the mammygate settlement either, but that didn't stop Ed.
