TKC EXCLUSIVE!!! KANSAS CITY'S AFRICAN-AMERICAN VOTERS CROSS PARTY LINES TO SUPPORT REPUBLICAN ROY BLUNT!!!

There's an interesting development in the Kansas City political scene that speaks to the larger implications of so much divisive local politics.

It seems that there's a significant contingent of voters in Kansas City's African-American Community that have thrown their support to Republican Candidate For Senate Roy Blunt. Given that African-Americans in this town have historically backed Democrat candidates, the move is certainly noteworthy.

Eastside Leader Carol Coe blames the switch on Democrat Candidate Robin Carnahan's lack of connection with the African-American Community, "She's not saying the things that speak to Black people. She's basically ignoring us," Coe said. "When we see Robin Carnahan posing with a horse and pandering to the rural vote but refusing to be seen in our community. That sends a very clear message."

Coe continued: "It's a question of economic survival. Blunt wants work with our community and take an active role in the development we so desperately need."

Coe noted that Blunt's stance on earmarks in the African-American Community in both STL and Kansas City have caught the attention and caused serious consideration of Blunt's candidacy in predominantly Democrat controlled African-American Districts. She hopes his tenure will mimic that of Kit Bond who has supporters from both sides of the aisle as well.

TKC would like to thank Carol Coe for being kind enough to smile for a photo with her handbag which is adorned with a Roy Blunt For Senate sticker that she displays proudly.

Working more directly with the Blunt Camp, I talked with Riccardo Lucas who stresses Blunt's assurances to Kansas City's African-American voters. "The Blunt campaign is open to using earmarks to directly spark economic development in the Black Community and Carhahan just hasn't really reached out to us."

On the subject of crossing party lines Lucas argued for pragmatism, "We may not agree with Roy Blunt on everything but we are impressed with his commitment to look at more direct ways to financially empower the Black Community."

What's important here is that recent insults to Kansas City's African-American Political Leadership like the debacle over the Jackson County Committee Chairmanship aren't going unnoticed and are cited as a direct response to so many crossing party lines. As Kansas City's Democratic party continues to insult and ignore people of color, this move toward a GOP candidate isn't just surprising . . . It might be long overdue.

  2. This is a joke, right?

  3. I don't think Carnahan will be laughing when she loses.

  4. That's Carol Coe?!?

    Whoa now.

  5. Keep focusing on your elitest wine and cheese parties you poor excuses for jackson county democrats.

    ReplyDelete
  6. I would like to thank all the little Darkies for their support and personal service.

Now how about a song and dance?

(You would think that Robin would have learned to talk to those people by now.)

  7. In case you didn't realize it, the state of Missouri is RED and for a statewide democrat to be sucessful they are going to have to appeal to the rural area.

The KC black community has long supported people that made promises to blacks and didn't keep their word so I am not sure why now its such a big deal. What has Sheriff Sharp done, Kanatzar, Sanders etc etc etc.

Freedom Inc has sold their vote for decades and it will go to the highest bidder again this time.

  8. Well Blunt has more money so Freedom Inc will go Blunt.

  10. Carol Coe is a 14 karat fucking loon and I find it hard to imagine that even TKC would quote her on anything.

The creds of this place are sinking like the Titanics.

    ReplyDelete
  11. Commenters who say that the Black vote is for sale don't know what the hell they're talking about (and there's some implicit racism there, too).

Carol Coe and Riccardo Lucas, however, are both very much for sale. They'd probably fetch higher prices, too, if they ever actually managed to accomplish anything or sway any votes. But they don't. Carol is loony, and Riccardo doesn't do anything but have sex with Sharon Sanders Brooks (yuck!) and pass around fliers.

  12. Kit Bond has bamboozled the black community for years with the same kind of "economic empowerment". Let's be clear about what that means: Tax dollars are dumped into the pit of what makes believe it's black leadership in KCMO and by the time it gets anywhere near the residents who actually live on the east side, most of it has disappeared. Back in the '60s maybe standing with your hand out looking for unaccountable federal money was called "empowerment". Now, though, building a community is called accountability and responsibillity and working hard to get training and an actual job.
I'm sure Carol Coe thinks that the Citadel Plaza project is a great prototype which she and Blunt can follow. And good luck with that to all the other "just folks" who live on the east side and will never see a dime or any other evidence of money being spent that way.
If any of these people think Blunt really wants or needs their votes, they're living in a fantasy land.
Here comes the new boss; same as the old boss, and with "leaders" like Carol Coe, anyone who falls for this crap will deserve exactly what they get.

    ReplyDelete
  13. Any Black person that votes for Roy Blunt gets everything they deserve, Blunt is a crook and will do NOTHING for the Black community.

  14. Single Party Is Getting Old9/11/10, 9:36 PM

Blame Henry Rizzo and his faithful ward, John - for making single party entitlement an issue with election fraud...the Republicans are already onto it. Being a Democrat in Jackson County is only cool if you're corrupt, and making kickback money off of taxpayers. If you're just living on the East Side it doesn't mean shit. Rizzos, Sanders, Callahan are all assholes banking for themselves and expecting the Black Vote. Expecting, as in, entitled to it. No more. We want real people who work for the neighborhoods, instead of working the neighborhoods for themselves.

  15. You keep mentioning the County Committee vote. It wasn't a vote against Freedom. It was a vote against Terry Riley. He didn't deserve to be Chairman. He just got elected to the Committee and had run a campaign that was one of the nastiest of the summer. Blunt talks about earmarks and votes against all other types of funds that would actually help Kansas City. Carol Coe should be going after her KC Council members who have shifted millions into the community with nothing to show for it. Carol also serves on the County Committee--she should resign for supporting Blunt. Going against her oath to support Democratic candidates. She is dishonest if she doesn't. Doesn't deserve the position. Give it to someone who will actually do something. Last time she was on the Committee she came to two meetings in two years and didn't even live in the district elected from.

    ReplyDelete
  16. Actually it is against the requirements of the Jackson County Democratic Party committee, supporting the nominee of the other party.

Carol Coe will have to resign from that office.

    ReplyDelete
  17. You can thank Mike Sanders and the Misouri democratic party insulting the people that actually do work in our community! They hire legacy staff to sip cosmos while we struggle to find anyone to listen to us. You insult Terry Riley and other leaders, you lose. Remember, Roy doesn't have to win our community just enough votes to win the state. Truth.

    ReplyDelete
  18. Fact check: Freedom Inc has NEVER endorsed Mike Sanders and even opposed the recent charter changes. They have always supported his opponents. So if I am Sanders, what would I think I owed Freedom?

    ReplyDelete
  19. #2 search result for "Carol Coe" is a page titled "Carol Coe still crazy" from Tony's Kansas City

    Well, some things never change.

Some people would take 5% over 95%

  20. So Mike Sanders thinks he is bigger then the greater good of a party? Well, that confirms what everyone already knew about the snake.

  23. Keep focusing on your elitest Crossroads wine and cheese parties you poor excuses for Jackson County democrats. You suck at fundraising. You suck at standing up for working families. You suck at being halfway decent democrats and that is exactly why we are getting our ass kicked in Missouri.

  24. Sucks for Robin that she didn't take her husband's name. Sure, it would have blown the name recognition, but she could have gotten Tony's support.

Tony has proven himself to be a kingmaker, ya know.

But at least Tony isn't afraid to back people who will stab his community in the back repeatedly. He's not a single-issue voter, just a stupid voter.

Also, if you didn't realize that Republicans in power was bad the last time it happened, then I don't know what to tell you.

    ReplyDelete
  25. Let Daddy Jim bail her out he seems to have a endless supply of money. Because she is in trouble.

  26. can someone show me "the black community" on a map?

  27. lucius0729: Anyone--white or black--who votes for Roy Blunt will get what he or she deserves. The only person Blunt will do anything for is Roy Blunt.

and 10:52: Aggie Stackhaus! Isn't THAT an incentive to support Blunt. She's another who'll do everything she can--for Aggie Stackhaus. Just ask her neighbors who redid the Loose Mansion.

    ReplyDelete
  28. 10:16, way to go! Had forgotten about Aggie's personal vendetta against the Loose Mansion. Her husband gets drunk and tries to start trouble at the legal establishment while Aggie tries to parlay her "clout" (which is non-existent) to shut down the place. Her support of Blunt should help Carnahan...and Aggie should stay off the Stigall radio program. No one wants to hear from her.

    ReplyDelete
  29. 11:08: Right. And if I see Aggie at any mayoral candidate's events, that candidate will instantly be beyond the pale. I should have done that last time when I saw her at Funkhouser's events.

  31. It would not be the first time the black community put a Republican Senator in power in Missouri. 38% of the black community espouses conservative values in spite of the constant drumbeat of leftist propaganda aimed at them.

By balancing their vote out between the parties minority communities can gain, not lose, political power. As long as the black community clings to the Democrat Party it will have no power to influence anything.

    ReplyDelete
  32. It's really sad and actually an insult to the black community that the Republican's approach to buying votes is exaactly the same as the Democrats: Promise a little handful of self-appointed black "leaders" that the winner of the election will throw some tax money their way so they can show how connected they are. As usual, none of the money ever makes it into the community.
Not really that hard to figure out the outcome of this scam after it's repeated year after year.

  36. Coe where are all the urban farms you have gotten.almost a half million dollars for? Just go to 27th Prospect over$250,000.00 dollars and the only thing growing is weeds that had to be mowed down with taxpayers money.Carol Coe is upset cause Robin showed her what a real farm looks like. Carol Coe where are your farms that you received over a half million. Dollars?

  37. Have any of you morons posting in this room ever sat down and had a conversation with Carol Coe? I have, many times, and I find her to be an intelligent, nice lady.

    ReplyDelete
  42. ok Tony and gang. Time for a dose of reality. Robin is doomed because like many other folks she's running against a strong back lash to the Black President. President Obama caved and compromised too much no single payer no real financial reform, stimulus to small etc. One or two would have been forgiven but all three and Rahms remarks about the Professional left this president and his core group of Republican appeasers what the bi-partisan government era he wanted so badly. Ask Bill how it feels to get the government shut down.
The lesson here is obvious when in Power don't compromise with the enemy. Robin should pick a side either run with the President(if she wants Black votes) or run to the rural area and lose to Blunt. Its simple Robin and the other Dems nationally running away from the last popular Democrat.

    ReplyDelete
  43. And just what crime was Carol Coe convicted of a few years back?

If she supports Blunt then she has ceded her ability to serve on the committee.

    ReplyDelete
  44. I don't think much of Carol Coe, but African-Americans would be wise to look toward the Republican Party. Most African-Americans I speak with have much in common with the GOP, and, as a lifelong white Republican, I can tell you that Republicans always welcome African-Americans into their ranks.

As far as the posting where Blunt is thanking the "darkies," you can't tell me many Democrats don't think that way. I grew up in Missouri, and African-Americans never really advanced in state government agencies until Danford, Bond and other young Republican leaders came into office. Look at the Missouri Official Manuals back in those days under the Democrats. The only black in most statewide offices was the mailroom supervisor.

    ReplyDelete
  45. Sorry, I meant to say "Danforth" in the previous post.

  46. The Democratic Party was the party of slavery, and was traditionally the party of segregation. Those guys with the fire hoses and dogs and those guys standing in the schoolhouse door were Democrats.

  47. It's a real laugher to say Obama is unpopular because he compromised too much. Is that what the Tea Party is upset about? Give me a break!

  56. Care to elaborate? Do you actually know what you are talking about or just going along with public opinion. Give me some specifics. I guess we have been collecting illicit money and committing fraud for 50 years. Genius do you actually think they would let a black organization do that?
