TKC EXCLUSIVE!!! A GROWING KANSAS CITY CONSENSUS CLAIM MAYORAL CANDIDATE SLY JAMES HAS MORE STYLE AND CHARISMA THAN ANY LOCAL POLITICO!!!
Last night I stopped by Kansas City fashion boutique Method in order to cover another upcoming story and I noticed a bit of leftover political signage.
What this sign tells me is that more quickly than anybody other candidate, Sly James seems to have harnessed the younger, professional, Downtown/Midtown demographic. It's a growing constituency that represents the future of Kansas City.
By holding so many events at trendy places like Method and other chic local venues Sly has increased his name recognition among young professionals by leaps and bounds.
Now, the trick here is to take that momentum and use it to persuade old school voters who dominate the polling places. Still, at this point the future belongs to Sly James and he seems to be the favorite among Kansas City's hipster set whether he likes it or not.
The factor that has worked time and again for Sly James is his ability to connect with a crowd. More than any other candidate he has the kind of charisma, charm and personality to sway almost anybody who listens to what he has to say. It's not just a case of "speaking well," right now he's the only candidate talking about "uniting Kansas City" in the midst of extremely divisive local and national political struggles.
So, I'd argue that Sly has both style and substance and to top it all off he has STILL HAS A LOT OF CASH despite the fact that most political insiders knock his exorbitant burn rate and hope the steady stream of donations from lawyer buddies dries up.
There are a great many criticisms of Sly James and some of them have merit. Nevertheless, TKC contends that his hard work to raise his name recognition has paid off more than any other candidate currently running for Mayor in Kansas City.

ReplyDeleteSly is smart and well educated. He stands out in the field where tony has Herman as front runner, a candidate with only a high school education. But how does Sly make it through the primary and then not get killed by the racists up north ?

ReplyDeleteRep. Jason Grill held an event there the other night as well. If Funk wins reelection, Grill will run in 2015 and win. Not only does he have strong Northland support he also has a bunch of support throughout KC!

Yes, 3:50, I know. But I sure would like to know the name of that POS who would post something like that anonymously. I think there is a "fighting words" exception to the First Amendment protection, and that comment, if said in a face-to-face manner to someone, would be against the law. At the very least, peace disturbance.

Im a white dude and im for Sly. Like one of the posters said Sly can bring this city together. The school district has strong leadership and is heading in the right direction.The rest of the city needs to get behind Sly and come together.
