TKC EXCLUSIVE AND THE SATURDAY NIGHT PLAYLIST!!! THE CROWD GROWS!!! KANSAS CITY'S NEXT MAYOR: HENRY KLEIN!!!

The latest entry into Kansas City's Mayoral Race will undoubtedly bring more passion and energy to the contest than any other contender.
Henry Klein is running for Mayor.
Again.

Recently, I was able to have an informative conversation with the candidate and listen to a great deal of his strategy which is sure to keep this Cowtown captivated during the upcoming campaign season.
What stands out most to me:
AT THIS MOMENT HENRY KLEIN IS THE ONLY CANDIDATE RUNNING FOR MAYOR WHO DOES NOT REPRESENT A SPECIAL INTEREST!!!
Admittedly, I'm inclined to joke about the entire electoral process as long as Mayor Funky is involved. But I think Klein's lack of special interest connections deserves consideration given that local Democracy has devolved into nothing more than a circus of competing selfish constituencies throwing their clout and cash around like drunken bullies. What's more impressive to me is that Klein seems to have learned a lot from his pricey first attempt and seems poised to capitalize on a race that's going to boil down to a name recognition contest.
"I'm very passionate about this race; under the current administration I think that local government has declined to a point where it has become nearly unmanageable," Klein said. "Nearly four years ago Kansas City was at a crucial point where we really could have moved forward. That didn't happen. The next four years are too important to waste."
Klein sketched out some of his campaign platform which seems to hit on all of the issues residents deem important. Expect Klein to talk extensively about Housing, Education and Public Safety.
Klein's experience in Housing is exceptionally noteworthy. He's a board member of Habitat for Humanity and was influential in bringing ReStore to the Waldo area. He plans to use that experience in helping achieve his vision for Kansas City.
And because he's had four years to think about it, Klein is able to eloquently articulate his vision for Kansas City. I'm probably not doing it justice, but it was interesting to hear the local business dude opine about creating public/private/non-profit partnerships to weather Kansas City through the ongoing Great Recession that's going to be around a lot longer than anyone would like to admit.
Even better . . .
HENRY KLEIN PROMISES TO CALL ALL OF THE OTHER MAYORAL CANDIDATES ON THEIR BULLSHIT!!!
If he carries through on this intention then he will CERTAINLY make waves in this Cowtown political scene.
"Kansas City is a nice place full of nice people and we have a way of politely listening to nonsense and catchphrases," Klein said. "When I hear the phrase, 'Smart with the money' I'm gonna ask what exactly that means."
Because Klein isn't directly connected to a special interest, he's more likely to carry out his plans for a renegade campaign. Klein is already working with local, late night talk show host Darron Story. Teaming with the entertainment expert is sure to create a captivating campaign that's sure to attract attention of Kansas City voters.
Finally, if I haven't given away too much of his campaign strategy, I hope to be writing more about the Klein mayoral campaign that's already the most intriguing in Kansas City.

Once again, tonight's playlist is dedicated to the increasingly crowded Kansas City Mayoral field and a hope that the candidates will be pushed to "keep it real."
As always, thank you for reading and have a safe and fun weekend.
pffft.
ReplyDeleteToo many candidates=Funk again. Disaster!
ReplyDeleteA campaign of ideas instead of sucking up to interest groups is exactly what Kansas City needs. If you try to win by promising each of Tony's "power players" something in exchange for their support, by the time you get halfway through the list, there's nothing left for the actual residents of the city. That's how KCMO has operated for years: great careers for a handful of insiders, and lousy services and apathy for the residents. Which is exactly why the city loses deals like the Wizards.
ReplyDeleteThere are alot of great hard-working people in every neighborhood in the city who are trying to improve their communities every day. What a great thing if our local institutions like city government, the police board, the business community, and the faith congregations had some visionary leadership that focused on big-picture and practical goals that would improve this community for everyone.
Start the campaigning!
Oh Henry just say no.You dont have a chance.
ReplyDeleteTony, I agree that Klein is a good guy without owing anyone, anything in the way of political favors.
ReplyDeleteWill Royster is in the same position, except that he is more active in his community.
Why pick one, but not the other?
I agree with 8:18, but even more:
ReplyDeleteTKC: "Klein's lack of special interest connections deserves consideration given that local Democracy has devolved into nothing more than a circus of competing selfish constituencies throwing their clout and cash around like drunken bullies."
Rizzos are the archtype "bullies" you are speaking about - yet you tout their vapid and corrupt efforts in Northeast, over a good guy like Royster. Nonsense!
Outsider who will save the City from inside politics!!! Oh, wait, where have I heard that before . . . Funk. Stay home, Henry.
ReplyDeleteSomeone do us all a favor and please take roysters computer from before he hurts himself.
ReplyDeleteSweet all we are missing is chuck eddy and we can have the band back together - call it the "funk revival"
ReplyDeleteHow much did he spend per vote last election???
ReplyDeleteSave your money Mr. Klein and donate it to Habitat.
Just wait, Al Riederer is probably going to run too.
ReplyDeleteWhat a disaster.
Henry, youre in to late. Funraising will be tough. The big blocka of support have been spoken for. All the other canidates are hitting full stride.
ReplyDeleteHenry! Henry! Henry!
ReplyDeleteHenry's strength will be in the forums if this really is his strategy. But I don't know how many people pay attention to them. I can't imagine Funk convincing anyone.
ReplyDeleteJohn Rizzo For Mayor! He KNOWS people....
ReplyDeleteHenry Klein rocks. He's a super nice guy and would be a fresh voice.
ReplyDelete(Burp) Henry Klein is in the race? Perfect! That means I can try and hire him so that I can run more than one candidate in the same race again. (Burp) I need to call Jeff Roe and see if he is willing to cut his rate in half for helping me north of the river.
ReplyDeleteHahahahahahahahaha! Henry Klein running AGAIN is the funniest thing I've heard all week. Last time he spent $150,000 of his own money, hired some of the most experienced professionals around, and still managed to either turn off every voter he met (those who didn't automatically dismiss him as irrelevant). Inspiring? Hahahahahahaha.
ReplyDeleteMaybe this time he'll actually manage to crack the 1,000-vote threshold. I doubt it, but maybe.
FUNK is an idiot.
ReplyDeleteSLY wrong kind of name.
DEB not ready for prime time players.
ROLAND seems mean (a Funk want to be)
MIKE BURKE = Jim Glover =(BORING)
New Dude = New Dude just another one on the list.
Did I forget anyone.
Yes you forgot the two black dudes, Terry Riley and Jonas Hughes
ReplyDeleteTHIS was the guy we are waiting for? HOLY SHIT!!!!
ReplyDeleteHey Klein, way to screw us over. YOU are an idiot. You are just diluting the vote. funk'd sneaks back in, that is your legacy.
People that contribute to city candidates, PLEASE do not give this joker any hope or money.
In every day and every way, Funk wins.
ReplyDeleteFunk will never win. The Co-mayors have embarassed themselves and the city long enough.
ReplyDeleteDoes he send unsolicited bulk e-mail?
ReplyDeleteTHERE IS A SOLUTION: JOHN JOSEPH RIZZO...
ReplyDelete...because he KNOWS people...
Whiner! Thin skinned- oddball.
ReplyDeleteHenry Who? Nevah heard of him!
