The KC Hispanic News reports that So-Called "reformers" and the rest of the members of The Kansas City School Board skipped a community meeting to discuss future plans for THREE abandoned schools on this town's Westside. In their absence, community members raged about mowing schedules and damage to local property values.

Okay what's the big deal? What did you think was going to happen to the closed schools property if they didn't take of them opened why would they care when there are closed? Lights out
ReplyDeleteBoard president West was out campaigning with the citizens money .the other token mexican was out partying. Simmons 4 President!
ReplyDeleteThe NEW people o n the School Board need to FOCUS on the disposition of the boarded-up buildings. They are actually intending to hold on to these buildings in the irrational hope that the District will now start to grow enough to actually fill them.
ReplyDeleteIt won't.
The buildings will continue to rot.
The surrounding neighborhoods are the ones who will pay the price.
Airick, Crispin, et. al.: you were NOT elected to fiddle while Rome burns!
I'm not sure you could give the buidlings away considering what shape most of them are in and where they are.
ReplyDeleteThis may be one of those times where you accept reality, take your losses, and tear the buildings down.
Of course, the city can't/doesn't maintain its parks very well either.
I agree tear the buildings down and let la raza center purchase the land and build up. That or accept the lease and move on.
