Gov. Jay Nixon Against Prop. A

Finally . . . Missouri Gov. Jay Nixon voiced his opposition to the effort that would bankrupt Kansas City.

AFTER WEEKS OF AVOIDING THE ISSUE . . . "Gov. Jay Nixon has decided to oppose Proposition A, the statewide ballot measure that could lead to the end of the earnings tax in Kansas City and St. Louis."

Opposition to this move from a popular politico certainly helps the avoid the E-Tax Repeal that increasingly looks like the vengeful hubris of some old billionaire supported by the many people he's paying.

  2. "that would bankrupt Kansas City......"

Kansas City is bankrupt because of stupid politicians....... that's why people want to vote on the e-tax.

  4. The state election in the fall is lost. Kansas City will win the spring election WHERE ONLY THEIR VOTERS will participate. Center-left Kansas City is not going to cut its budget by 40 percent over five years. Kansas Citians, like all other people, like a tax that shifts the as much of the burden as possible to other people and off themselves. This is why the Sprint center was paid for by taxing hotel room nights and rental cars. There is more than a very good chance the E-tax will survive the spring vote.

  8. For those of you who think the e-tax is doomed or toast obviously don't live in Kansas City Missouri. If you did, you would know that the majority of the e-tax is paid by JoCo residents who work here. Eliminating the e-tax would discontinue free trash pickup, cut police and fire, and other services to KCMO. A replacement tax or property tax increase would have to happen and hurt the elderly and low income families. So you people obviously have not thought this through.

  12. obviously you don't know anything about a budget....... I know about scare tactics. And this is one of them.

  13. scare tactics? No basic math and accounting.

  14. 2:44 much of the E-tax may be paid by nonresidents but I can assure you that amount is declining each year. Now KCMO is forced to "rebate" some of the tax to employers to convince them to stay in KC.

  15. Here's the problem. Nobody else in the state except the lame ass newspapers are against Prop A. Who was the dumbass that told him to make that move?
