Expensive Kansas City Water Scheme Study

They're gonna "study" privatizing the Water Dept. piece by piece but there isn't one politico in town with the power to make anything happen other than really expensive paper work.

Chris Hernandez reporting on the subject was much more insightful (and quicker) than The Star.

  1. Saw Water Dept Crews sitting in their trucks all day a few days ago waiting for concrete to arrive. It did arrive finally at 3:30.

They weren't sleeping though that's a good sign there is at least some progress.

They worked probably a whole 2 hours that day.

  3. Can't figure out how this will work. Can you take money for part of an enterprise fund and roll it in the general fund, wouldn't that money go back into the enterprise fund??? This does not address the sewer pipes in the collection system that bring the storm water and sewage to the treatment plants (more than 1) and break periodically- that is also part of the 2.5 billion upgrade. Inquiring minds want to know.

Are you freaking kidding me? They want to privatize the Water Dept and yet they took an EXCELLENT PRIVATE AMBULANCE service and made it a part of the city? WTH? This city council and mayor all have agendas that are NOT in the best interest of the citizens! STOP THIS TRAVESTY!

  5. Just nuts I say.

Also it seems to me that the upgrade of the sewer/water system is the perfect application of a small amount of a universal tax, like a sales tax, so that visitors can bear a little bit of the burden of the water they use and the commodes they flush, rather than it being borne completely by the water rate payers.
