TKC EXCLUSIVE AND THE SATURDAY NIGHT PLAYLIST!!! POLITICAL CONSULTANT CHRIS MORENO STILL WORKING AS WILL ROYSTER'S CAMPAIGN MANAGER!!!
Don't dare believe that interesting news regarding the Missouri District 40 will stop any time soon. This week we learned Royster paid a somewhat erratic visit to the Kansas City Election Board that freaked a couple of people out but ultimately ended with cooler heads prevailing.
And in the aftermath of Political Consultant Chris Moreno parting ways with his firm, we're intrigued to learn a new development in this Missouri District 40 race:
POLITICAL CONSULTANT CHRIS MORENO REMAINS IN CHARGE OF THE ROYSTER CAMPAIGN DURING THE RECOUNT!!!
A simple quote from Moreno: "I am still very much the campaign manager for soon to be State Rep. Will Royster."
His hopes are high while the OVERWHELMING MAJORITY of political experts I've talked to note that Missouri simply doesn't overturn these elections because it would call all of the other close races into play among many other reasons. Also, Royster's behavior upon his first visit to the KCEB didn't earn him any goodwill. Finally, with only 12% voter turnout in Kansas City Proper, there is no underlying sentiment to circumvent election rules or hold up the democratic process simply for Royster's will.
More than a few people have mentioned that Royster might be risking his overall political reputation by pushing his campaign forward even after the election ballots have been cast and counted -- Twice. On the bright side, it's also worth noting the Moreno has seemingly taken over the duties of making visits to the KCEB given that Chris was spotted down there on Friday with a crew of supporters and he acknowledges the much more uneventful and controlled visit.
So, as news of this race continues, the whole hot mess has inspired tonight's playlist with songs about a countdown, counting, numbers, last ditch efforts, lost love and starting anew.

I loose a great deal of respect for people who are loyalty to skin color before ethics.
My view on THAT, is if he's truly that, then he needs to be dropped as a serious blogger. That makes him just another asshole with a self-serving agenda.
He's gone pretty far out on the ship's plank shouting "Viva la Raza"... and before he gets eaten by sharks, he may want to reconsider his role in the greater KC community!
Does he want to be a trusted community blogger or just another blogger with a special interest (Mexican!)
I hope he makes the right decision, and in fact makes MEXICANS work just as hard as a responsible bloger would require of ANYONE!
If he can't do that, doesn't want to do that, well then he's just another special interest group and I bet his hits will fall pretty damned fast! Expecially when the election's over with and nobody finds him useful.

ReplyDeleteThis guy is a riot! Tony writes a story about the guy and his stalkers get so upset. You can't help but love this Chris Moreno character. I've never met him but heard he's actually pretty nice in person. The more these losers hate on the guy, the more people are liking him. I was at a blog meeting and we were all talking about how he's like the T.O. of politics. You can't help but like him.

Who is Chris Moreno? That's what we want to know. KC needs a political commentator like him. It's apparent at a young age, he's not afraid. That is what I like about him. Although I hate politics for the most part, he makes it fun.
ReplyDeleteAs someone that has watched young Chris Moreno come up in politics, I have to say he is a great guy. There are a few jerks on here that have problems with him but so what? They don't identify themselves for a reason. A few of us were talking about this the other night after the HQ opening and aren't going to sit back while he gets piled on. GO CHRIS!

That's what makes him something special in this business. He doesn't back down when the going gets tough and you know where he'll stand.

I enjoy this blog. Lately it has been because of this guy Chris Moreno who is grabbing a lot of attention. It's clear this guy is not at all afraid of the political bullies in his city. Good for him! You don't find loyal consultants like that anymore. You can't help but love a guy like that!

Fact is the little Royster election drew less than a thousand votes? Yet Tee is hyping it with a huge pix of Moreno, bigger even than the candidate... and his over used nuclear explosion?
Tony advocates a soft border, drug lords is what we'd get. Royster? Royster WHO? Shouldn't he be fishing?
This just all reminds me of the big CNN story the night before 9-11, raising questions about some congressman's (NON) involvement in his missing and murdered intern.
Drudge does it too. A powerful media outlet who for daze, beats up on Michelle's little trip to Spain which delivered us some great press in Europe, press only billions in foreign aid brings us. But a word on expensive wars? Bridges to nowhere for republican districts? Not a word.
Blogging without objectivity, without an eye for fairness, is an outrage which distracts us from making things better.
Does Tee make a connection between dress codes at KCPL and the epidemic of ghetto deaths? No, that would be 'racist'.
Moreno is a non-story and Royster is old news. So will be Tony's blog if he doesn't move on, as I hope he will. Ya have to wear rubber boots in here nowadays and Im gently suggesting he drain the swamp. I know you snakes don't want the swamp drained, but oh well.

Read with interest this morning that Hearne's moving to stage two with his blog. I wish him success for so far, he's just been an online coffee-table magazine.
Its hard to compete with the dead tree press which is an industry of tradition. The Star, the Pitch, and the Sun have been quietly doing things right, even tho they don't get on America's Most Wanted.
Good for Chris Moreno! I met his partners and wasn't at all impressed by them. What was that firm doing before Moreno joined? Nobody heard of them and for good reason.

You really have to give it up to Chris Moreno. Few people are well received across the state like that guy. He's great. Which is why the negative comments here really make me as a reader laugh. Now that he's gone his old firm must be losing their ass. Why else would his partners spend so much time on here bashing the guy?

It's clear you don't like Royster and for whatever reason are in love with do nothing and know nothing JJ Rizzo. But why Tony you are writing this election off already amazes me.
ReplyDeleteTony, I work in the KCEB 3rd floor office and was there when Chris Moreno came in. He said hi to me and was his always friendly self. How did you get word that he was there?
ReplyDeleteThe only people there at that time were myself, the two head commissioners, who he was speaking to professionally and laughing with, and our 80 year old secretary. So how is it that the news got leaked to you if I didn't leak it?

I probably know a half dozen people who would have voted for Royster if he didn't seem so erratic; I don't know if that's Chris Moreno's fault.
ReplyDeleteRoyster has a reputation with some people in this neighborhood of being a hot head and perhaps Moreno could have done more to change this perception.
Chris Moreno is a great guy. I've worked with him many times and know first hand he treats people with respect. I helped on his state rep race and nobody would argue he didn't work hard. I helped on Nixon and he was there til later hours in the night with Scott and others working hard. These guys trying to smear him are being seen for what they are: shams. Moreno is a great guy!

I've met Moreno and Chris Benjamin (I have no idea if i've talked to Danny Powell, I just recognize him). Both Moreno and Benjamin are big jovial dudes. Although i'd guess that i'd take the lawyer with some better campaign experience (Benjamin) over Moreno if I had to pick.
For these guys to go after another guys family shows their intent. That's enough for me to side with Moreno

I agree with above. I'm not sure if Benjamin, Powell think these attacks make them cool but it really doesn't? Having worked with them on some campaigns, I'm surprised at how shady they are. I hope Mike Talboy has nothing to do with this. As someone who has worked for MDP for years, I can say that Chris Moreno was awesome and always loyal to Mike. And I think Mike is better than what is being written here this week.

Would really like to see a candidate step up to the plate with his or her thoughts and promote their agenda. Tell the public what THEY'RE going to do, NOT what their opponent has or has not done. Sooo tired of the behind the scene political movers and shakers just trying to make a buck. We as voters deserve representation by a legitimate candidate. Let's all be more thoughtful this November and vote for the person not the party, gender, race,etc...
