Here is an interesting development that has occurred AFTER TKC EXCLUSIVE REPORTING of Missouri House District 40 Candidate Speaking on The Topic Of Immigration.
Well, reports to TKC indicate that in the aftermath of a TKC post Royster elaborated on his position more clearly and now firmly opposes the racial profiling aspect of the recent, controversial immigration Arizona law. I haven't heard him mention "Comprehensive Immigration Reform" which is the standard talking point for Democrats across the nation but he's probably closer than he was on the subject.
Even more hilariously, there's a battle for political sign supremacy on Independence Avenue.
After the jump, I'm including the presser from the Royster camp.
HOWEVER, I have to admit that I LOATHE any talk about political signs . . . Which are pretty much visual clutter that only prove divisive from my perspective.
But I wanted to see for myself, and TKC can confirm that Royster has the edge when it comes to Latino Biz Political signage.
TKC BREAKING NEWS!!! ROYSTER EVEN HAS A HUGE SIGN ON DISPLAY AT SUPER POLLO!!!
But, because I need a break from all this political bullshit, yesterday I walked into the iconic Dairy Queen owned by John and Esther McMurray and noticed their take on this subject which speaks volumes and has been adopted by shops of all ethnic persuasions on Independence Ave . . . Because, thankfully, some businesses and people endure in Northeast despite local politics.
Royster Calls on Rizzo to Quit Scamming Latino's In Northeast
At Least 5 restaurant and business owners claim Rizzo lied to get them to sign a document and are now concerned
Historic Northeast Kansas City, MO--- In a statement today, Democrat Will Royster’s Campaign Manager Chris Moreno, is calling on his opponent John Rizzo to stop scamming Latino business owners. This after reports have come in from numerous business owners on Independence Avenue that claim, John Rizzo, and two others entered their store and asked them to take down Will Royster’s signs falsely claminig that at a forum sponsored by Northeast News, Royster would “close down the border and deport all Latinos”.
Rizzo then placed a paper in front of the business owners and told them to sign their name and business, and that he would have the KC Hispanic News and Notheast News contact them to verify the facts told to them by Rizzo. This action has troubled many business owners in Northeast.
“As Will Royster’s campaign manager and a second generation Mexican-American with roots in Northeast, I am appalled by the actions of J.J. Rizzo. As a predatory lender for TMJJ Inc. he has exploited and repossessed the dreams of Latino families in Northeast for years. Now as a candidate he has stooped to a new low, personally scamming them into signing a document, that he can use to either punish them for not supporting his campaign or use to place on yet another negative mail piece, attacking Will Royster without their permission. Either way, J.J. Rizzo needs to apologize to these business owners and to the Latino Community for such shameful actions,” said Chris Moreno.
Royster’s campaign was contacted yesterday by several business owners including the owners of Taqueria Mexico, Carnicera y Taqueria, and three other businesses on Independence Avenue, all verifying the same story. They expressed to the campaign that they were concerned as to what the Rizzo campaign would do with the signatures and felt it was wrong what the Rizzo campaign was doing to Latino businesses.
Will Royster’s campaign staff is Latino. His Campaign Manager Chris Moreno, served as Political Director for Jay Nixon for Governor, a member of Governor Nixon’s Transition Team and as a Liaison to the Missouri Department of Labor & Industrial Relations. His family has roots in the 40th House District. Royster is endorsed by several Latino leaders including, KC School Board Member Crispin Rea, longtime Northeast residents Mike Hernandez, HOJE Member Jerry Morales, and Former UAW Local 31 Vice-President Dave Moreno. He also has the endorsement of current Historic Northeast State Representative John Burnett, who has been a friend to the Latino community for years.
"This is yet one more reason why the people of Northeast are tired of my opponent. I hope he will take the high road and apologize to the Latino Community. After hearing this news from several owners, my campaign immediately contacted several leaders in the Latino community and feel confident that the message is being delivered to all business owners not to fall for this scam by J.J. Rizzo," said Will Royster, Democrat for State Representative.
Will Royster has served his nation as a decorated Navy attack pilot, with great honor and nearly lost his life after being shot down. He is a graduate of the University of Missouri with a Bachelors Degree in Finance. He then attended Middlebury College and the London School of Economics and Political Science where he received Executive Education certificates. Will is also the Vice-President of the Scarritt Renaissance Neighborhood, Vice-Chairman of Friends of the KC Museum, a Member of the Independence Avenue Commission, Landmark Commission and many more committees throughout Kansas City. ReplyDeleteI'm voting Rizzo! End of discussion
ReplyDeleteMe too. Rizzo all the way. Might not win but he is gonna get my vote.
ReplyDeleteTony! I'm glad you got a photograph of the signs in Dairy Queens window. I just noticed that today and thought it was funny.
ReplyDeleteAlso, I either missed the joke or am out of the loop... I thought Super Pollo was closed because the owners were trafficking cocaine. They don't really have a sign for Royster do they?
ReplyDeleteSuper pollo is back in biz.
ReplyDeleteUnder new management.
They do have a sign.
For everything that you do for the Rizzos, Tony, you're selling out our heritage. The Italians moved out of Northeast when we moved in. Now JJ Rizzo scams us, and when Royster and Moreno call it out, you blow it off. I think you're Italian.
ReplyDeleteHenry put "the pinch" on Dary Queen. He told them that since he (Henry) gave them a County Resolution, they need to sport JJ's sign. So they did. But, they are telling customers to vote for Royster, and they are handing out Royster's campaign literature. I asked why, and she told me that Royster brings his family into the shop regularly, and she loves his kids. She also said that he's a neighborhood guy. So that's the scoop from DQ.
ReplyDeleteNEW CAMPAIGN SLOGAN:
ReplyDelete"If you vote for Rizzo
You are stupid"
The "Beehive Hair Lady" at Dary Queen told me that Will Royster pulled his car into the parking lot and helped her when some drunks were causing her trouble. He used a personal cell number to get police there immediately and the cops arrested the jerks who were causing the trouble. She also says he brings his kids in regularly.
ReplyDeleteYes, there is a huge sign for Royster on the Super Pollo.
ReplyDeleteYes, there is a huge sign for Royster on the Super Pollo.
ReplyDeleteThe Rizzo camp is paying for their sign locations. Royster is not.
ReplyDeleteRizzo is paying people to steal Royster's signs. Royster is not paying people to steal Rizzo signs.
7:46 RIGHT ON!
ReplyDeleteThe Italians HATE Mexicans and Blacks - that's why they moved north. When I moved to Northeast, I wasn't allowed to sit at Concourse Park because it was reserved for Italian men. Now, I can take my grandkids to the park and sit while they play in the fountain.
Will Royster helps us. His kids' godparents are Hispanic, and his work for the neighborhood is good for our Community.
I was actually eating in a business when John Rizzo entered with 1 woman and 1 man tried to scare the owners into believing that they were going to get deported if Rizzo wasn't elected. The owners were then asked to sign a sheet of paper and were given a poorly translated flyer. Good thing they didn't sign and I am glad I was there to explain that what they were saying was a lie. Taking advantage of the community like that is sick.
ReplyDelete8:13 I saw the JJ Rizzo flyer. His Google translation says that he is literally "running" (like, taking a jog) for office. We Latinos think he's a liar, and my uncle is going to kick his ass if he ever steps back into his store on the Avenue.
ReplyDeleteI don't think it's going to matter how many Royster signs JJ Pays people to steal. The fact that the signs are in people's yards (not abandoned buildings and public rights of way) tells you where the vote is going to be. I predict that Royster will win bigger than John Burnett did in 2008.
ReplyDeleteAgree with 8:27. After reading the previous story too, I fact checked for about two minutes and instantly found that JJ Rizzo and Henry Rizzo do own and operate TMJJ otherwise registered as TMJJ dba kansas city wholesale motors on 4206 truman road.
ReplyDeleteGot to love Democrats hitting Democrats. No wonder we can't win the majority yet.
ReplyDeleteVote Libertarian!!!
ReplyDeleteAnus!
ReplyDelete8:10 It's not that Italians hate Mexicans, it's that JJ Rizzo and his dad hate mexicans...and blacks...and asians...and anyone who stands up for them.
ReplyDeleteThis story isn't about signs - it's about the Rizzos thinking they are entitled to public office, and damn anyone who disagrees with JJ's "rightful office".
ReplyDeleteJJ does NOTHING for the neighborhoods he feels entitled to represent, errr, I mean, RULE.
I resent bullies. Henry and baby-bully JJ need to just go loan-shark and let the rest of us have our peace.
Johnny Jo must have REALLY screwed up at the Somali interview tonight, because three of the elders who were at the event were gladhanding with Will Royster tonight over on Lexington.

Are the signs posted in small business windows what today's mob expects from retailers as payoffs for protection?
ReplyDeletePost my sign in your window at election time, or I won't forget if I get elected and you'll pay the price?
My view is that the more signs are up behind plate glass windows for someone, the LESS reason there is to vote for them.
Vote all incumbents OUT!
Thank you 11:20. I found the same information which is why I asked if there was a fact check on this blog. It took me two minutes to find that and see that John Rizzo and Henry Rizzo do in fact own and operate payday loan and car title businesses.
ReplyDeleteRoyzter and Rizzo? That photo makes me want to vote against BOTH of them. And I live in KC and I WILL! I can't believe I even browsed this blog!
ReplyDeleteRadioman; there is no incumbent in this race.
ReplyDelete3:33; Not sure why this picture would effect your vote, but if you live in the district there's a Libertarian candidate that you can vote for in November.
JJ is a do nothing. Prove otherwise.

He claimed that in past elections, his opposition spread “lies” about him, including that he was involved in the payday loan industry. Although a relative owns a title loan business, he said, he has no connection with these businesses.

ReplyDeletei would love to be a titty mouse. What a job he must have.
ReplyDeleteRizzo sent over the guy from the grocery store to threaten Esther. That's pathetic. No wonder she has a Royster sign.
