Right now politics is in the sweaty-ass Kansas City air and not even this town's paper-of-record can go unscathed.
To wit . . . Yesterday, TKC earned a lot more reaction than The Star by reporting their endorsement.
Luckily, I saved a quote from the dead tree source. Read it closely:
"District 40: John Joseph Rizzo has come close to winning this northeast Kansas City seat in previous elections and deserves the Democratic primary nomination for the seat being vacated by John Burnett. A marketing consultant, Rizzo shows a good grasp of issues. His opponent, former pilot Will Royster, has shown a tendency to exaggerate some of his credentials . . . "
Now, read the cleaned up version that must have earned a bit of editing after some serious conversations that might not have been as fun as my cheeky antics:
"John Joseph Rizzo has come close to winning this northeast Kansas City seat in previous elections and deserves the Democratic primary nomination for the seat being vacated by John Burnett. A marketing consultant, Rizzo shows a good grasp of issues. His opponent, in a campaign that has unfortunately turned nasty, is former pilot Will Royster."
And while it's rather sweet watching The Star waffle when it comes to their words, let's remember that I don't even like correcting typos pointed out by you d-bags.
More importantly, here's the reasoning offered for the endorsement line change from The Royster Camp:
"The Star changed their endorsement line regarding credentials considering they didn't show his (Royster's) resume in full to the board, never screened him and never covered debates."
Bottom Line: The Star endorsement is crucial in this race. Sadly, the transparency that journalists often ask for from politicos really wasn't apparent in their choice and surprised both camps equally. As usual, the best places to really keep track of dead tree media inconsistencies is right here on TKC. Natch.
Sweet sienna
ReplyDeleteThe Star's record of endorsed candidates actually winning is about 50%, not better than a coin toss.
ReplyDeleteWhat's sad in this case is, whichever of these people win, the residents of the northeast lose.
Neither of them will get anywhere in the Assembly.
The Star knows nobody cares about their endorsement, which is why they didnt care and didnt actually look into it. Another example of just picking someone because of their last name. Shame on you Yael
ReplyDeleteTony, thanks for all the press and always addressing this race by only mentioning Royster in the headline....i dont blame you, i agree with you, he is a smokin' hunk of man meat.
ReplyDelete749am - what is that based on? Will's poor record of accomplishments in the NE so far?
ReplyDeleteStop crying Royster camp, it will all be over soon.
ReplyDeleteThis just means that the Royster camp got to choose the size of the nail in their coffin. Either way it is firmly in place.
ReplyDeletei am curious what voter groups you have information from that lead you to believe rat-boy (payday JJ) can actually win this?
ReplyDeleteHey Chris ii don't blame you for telling him it's going to be all right. You need your last check. Royster you are a idiot.
ReplyDeleteThe Star editorial writers must have been drunk and pissed off about the fact that their newspaper cannot make money.
ReplyDeleteTheir treatment of Chyanne Lockhart Cardarella was mean and uncalled for.
JJ has penis breath. thats not mean, its in the movie E.T.
ReplyDeleteSo let me get this straight....
ReplyDeleteYou think the print endorsement is changed for some reason, when all it is actually is it BEING EDITED BY EDITORS FOR PRINT, which is traditionally written tighter.
Really?
And then, after crowing about the irrelevancy of "dead-tree media," all of a sudden your line now is "The Star endorsement is crucial in this race"?
Who is more dead? Newspapers, or bloggers whose credibility is dwindling to nothing?
So which one is it? You'd make a great politician because you say one thing while you apparently mean another.
Really?
This is almost as good as your statement that The Star Never Criticizes The Royals, when, in fact, it was easy to prove they do all the time. In other words, poorly thought-out, rife with logic pitfalls, and ignorant.
The Star is hardly dead, but TKC is fading fast in the relevancy department.
The STAR doesn't really care about Northeast because both their subscribers over here died in 1997.
ReplyDeleteAm I the only one who can say "Sean O'Toole"? These two (Royster and Rizzo) can't talk about issues they have to talk about each other and it is absolutely maddening to think of either of them being elected. The star has cited that rizzo has been narrowly defeated in this race several times prior is NOT qualification to public office. Likewise the resume inflation by royster scares me givben the fact that he caries a loaded firearm wherever he goes.
ReplyDeleteSo The Star didn't call, invite or even screen Will Royster? I was wondering why they endorsed Rizzo the biggest dbag of a candidate one could find. I was at the Northeast News debate and left thinking Royster was easily the most informed and experienced candidate with the best ideas for cleaning up Northeast.
ReplyDeleteJust what exactly do you think will happen if Royster wins? What will be so bad about it?
ReplyDeleteSean O'Toole.
ReplyDeleteHere here.
Don't curl up in the fetal position, honey. You know you liked it.
ReplyDeletegood stuff!
ReplyDeleteSean O'Toole from my vantage point as well! Had enough big government largess and would welcome a true conservative voice for a change.
ReplyDeleteSportster
...smaller less intrusive government is bad because?
Hey Chris is that all you do is blog on here. not going to help . The plane is going down
ReplyDeleteRoyster wins by a landslide!!!
ReplyDeleteSporty Spice = Bushie Tail.
I think I will count my money and wonder how much it must suck to be poor people like most of you D-bags.
ReplyDeleteelBryan, regarding Sean O'Toole, Here's a point: "No Police"
ReplyDeleteRoyster is the one needed by that district.

ReplyDeleteNo, please, fellow Nor'easters, do NOT vote Sean O'Toole. I ASSUME (since I cannot find O'Toole's stances online) that he aligns himself with his wife, US Senate candidate Cisse Spragins. She (they?) would like to abolish the Federal Reserve and the Department of Education. She supports state secession. Worst of all, like most Libertarians, she thinks the Constitution was perfect in the 18th century and never needs any amending.
