ReplyDeleteAnd so they put the mom in handcuffs, and now she's in a world of shit and will be diverting her hard earned money do deal with the government instead of buying necessities for her family.
I certainly hope there's more to the story and the mother's culpability than what was in KMBC's copy. For some reason, the government doesn't ever think the mother learned a lesson without them bringing down the full force of 'the man' on her.
In so many cases these days, the government's intervention just makes things ten times worse and they're so often excessively punitive--especially with poor people who very often just aren't very smart.
I bet thirty years ago no charges would have been filed against the mother presumably grateful her child was safe despite her stupidity.
Thirty years ago we turned a blind eye on a lot of terrible shit. This mom will recieve the full force of the law if she doesn't help herself. There is a system currently in place to help this stupid mom deal with not only the legal issues but also the underlaying factors that ended up with her very small child wandering a very busy street. If mom can't or won't get the help she clearly needs, then fuck her and place that child with a responsible relative or foster parent. "Mom" created this situation.
