Kansas Secretary Of State Candidates Far Less Worrisome Than Krazy Kris Kobach

The Star does a nice job of noting other candidates for the Kansas Secretary of State gig . . . So far, CHRIS STEINEGER seems like an option that has far more in common with the average Kansan than a careerist Ivy League educated law prof working in KCMO.

  1. I happened to be buzzing through small town Kansas a week ago and aside from the american flags still lining the main street since the Fourth, I saw a lot of Kobach signs in people's yards.

How many Mexicans live in Kansas who actually are registered to vote? I say "Mexicans" and not "Mexican Americans" or "American Mexicans" because you've convinced me that Latino loyalty is to the green flag. Verdad?

  2. The best candidate in that race is Elizabeth Ensley. Throw the other bums to the curb!

  3. So Radioman you admit that you and KKKobach have personal problems with Mexican Americans? I am proud to be Mexican American just as those in Kansas who go to Little Balkans Days are proud to be Eastern European American.

And to answer your question, there are a lot and there will be even more as the years go on. In the words of George Lopez We ain't goin nowherezzzzz.

  4. There is going to be a big push to let illegals vote. I would feel more comfortable with Kobach in that office.

  5. Tony, be careful. Kobach must be stopped and Steineger is not the guy to do it. A Wyandotte County Dem can't win a statewide race against a Repub. Chris Biggs came very close to beating Phill Kline in the atty general race and if Kobach wins the GOP primary he is the only hope of stopping Kobach.

  6. Honestly, 10:10, I wrote that as I've written certain other comments to FLUSH YOUR ASSES OUT!

Time to quit hiding and join the conversation. I wanna know if Latino CITIZENS want the illegals to get in line like THEY did...or is it anything for brown?

Were you just the vangard of a brown invasion, or are you Americans who will demand that even Mexicans aspiring to come here, need to convert to American?

Moreover, do you want the US to become a northern extension of MEXICO, or do you want Mexicans who wnat to move here to become AMERICAN?

And America has already established its identity. Our country's identity is not up for grabs. We have 300 years of European history, history of education, capitalism with some progressive changes. An English speaking nation that's somewhat Christian but also fairly materialistic.

    This is who we are.

Do you want to change it so it's more like the Mexican culture? Or do you want to join THIS culture?

My view is that if Mexicans want to make the US like MEXICO, they really only want our material successes...not the essence of what the American culture actually IS!

If that's all you want, then you should all be deported! If you want to become Americans as WE ALREADY have DEVELOPED, well then, you have some things to do to assimilate yourselves in to THIS culture, rather than expect THIS culture to become more like the one you came from.

    Does that make sense, friend?

  7. Radioman: Have you ever read a history book?

If you had, perhaps you would know that most of the area currently occupied by the state of California, Arizona and New Mexico were taken by force by the U.S. in 1848. (Technically, it was a "purchase," but with Mexico City occupied by American troops at the time, it's not like the "sellers" had much of a choice).

Perhaps you would also know that the southern quarter of Arizona was taken a few years later in what was called the "Gadsden Purchase," a maneuver executed against a broke and weakened Mexico by pre-Civil War Southern U.S. interests who wanted to build a railroad from the South into these newly "American" territories in the hopes of turning them into states where slavery was legal.

So, in your worldview, people moving back into land that was taken from their great-grandparents at gunpoint is somehow "illegal." Just so we have our definitions straight and all.

I'll leave you with a quote from an Israeli government spokesman responding to a U.S. demand regarding Israeli settlements in the West Bank: “I have to admire the residents of Iroquois territory for assuming that they have a right to determine where Jews should live in Jerusalem.”

  8. Well, when I read your history lesson, I thought immediately what we're looking at is the Israeli arguement. It was once theirs and so now they want it back.

The hunters and gatherers who occupied this continent with the imperial Brits showed up could demand a lot more than just Oklahoma back. Just how many Indians were shoved westerward because the Brits planted their flag in Maryland... and later, George Washington's crowd gave the revolutionary soldiers land in Kentucky and Tennessee that they didn't own?

We basically killed them all withour soldiers. Yup, it happened. But that was then. Today, those states you mention have stars on our flag. Not green stars. AMERICAN stars.

I'd suggest you get over it. I think you need to take the "Mexican" off of the description of yourself just like I've gotten over my Brit roots (and eastern European ones from the other side of my family.) They are foreign powers.

I don't believe in dual citizenship, Israelis included. Obama's not a Kenyan despite how his political enemies should wish. He's an American.

Time to renounce your old loyalty, or renounce your new one and go back. I gather you're a US citizen. Perhaps you should start acting like an American instead of a Mexican. Pick one. Only one. It's the way the planet actually works.

Live in the past or help build our future. It's not yours to define. The building's half built already and you have no right to tear it down to suit yourself, newcomer!

  9. 7:22: At what point in history do we have to go to make everything right?

If you are a white guy, you need to go back where you came from in Europe.

Are you actually calling for the breakup of the United States? What country in Europe do I go to? I'm part English, part German?

The Indian tribes in Oklahoma will have to move back to the Eastern and Great Lakes regions where they came from. Same for the tribes with reservations in Kansas.

The Turks have to move back to Central Asia. The Arabs all need to get back to Arabia where they came from, leaving Egypt, etc.
