A recent headline notes that the Kansas City NAACP convention is FINALLY getting interesting: "NAACP considers resolution decrying racist elements in tea-party movement"
Most people who objectively look at the Tea Party crowd understand that it's basically a response to the growing number of Latinos in this nation AND The First Black President.
Directly addressing this topic would be a great move in order to expose the Tea Party as a paper tiger.
Think about it:
The NAACP is a well-respected organization with a reputation going back more than a hundred years. They have many connections to Washington D.C. and standing with both major political parties.
Meanwhile, the Tea Party has turned into a one trick pony with little to no power and seems to specialize as a place to sell offensive t-shirts or earn a cable tv news following. In fact, the Tea Party might even hurt the GOP come next election cycle.
ADVANTAGE: NAACP
And while I don't hold out much hope for a showdown, it might be interesting to see Tea Party supporters stay losing.
Yup, I think you're right. I've read that the Tea Party's 15 minutes are about over, and the only real supporters of this myopic flash in the pan are middle aged women, like Darla Jaye. (Sorry, had to do it.) And morons like her heroine, Sarah "Mama Grizzly" (formerly "Drill Baby Drill") Palin.

I think you are both mistaken. The Tea Party movement doesn't have anything to do with Latinos or the first black President. It has everything to do with out of control government spending by both parties and realization that sooner or later, the bill for all this spending is going to come due. When that happens, it is going to hurt everyone in our nation, regardless of race.

Wars are good for the economy, remember? Serious money comes in when government rebuilds roads and bridges. This are big wages! Government buys lots of cars and trucks and airplanes. And ships. Good union jobs no matter who's in charge.
The problem is, in the past govt spending tided us over until economies rebounded. Thanks to the Chinese and the bankers, this one ISN'T going to rebound. The only jobs coming BACK are in fast food. With smaller salaries, we won't be buying US goods. We'll buy imports from Walmart. See how that works?
And of course, Mexicans will be working US farms since the US boys left home for the bright lights of fast food in the city.
It aint a bright future. Pay your bills. The middle aged tea partiers are going on social security. Don't worry about them.
Worry because they're going to vote Republican no matter what. And if you haven't noticed, the Republicans are offering no solutions except to put them back in power-- to pay back corporate America which put them there.

The tea party isn't really about anything other than against Obama. They have fuzzy views about deficit spending, and just disatisfaction in general but they don't stand for much of anything except to shout down Obama, saying they want their (white) country back
ReplyDeleteOne thing they are NOT in favor of, and that's 'individual freedom'. THAT is guaranteed by the Bill of Rights and its LIBERALS, supporting the ACLU that supports indivdual freedom. If they suuport any freedoms, the Tea Partiers maybe support CORPORATE freedom to be free of regulation that would protect the citizens from profits at any price.
What is going to kill the Tea Party is that no one really knows what they're for. They're mostly just scared middle aged white dittoheads who can't really explain what they believe without linking to white wing talkers.
If the Tea Party was a bunch of white racists, why then are there a good number of blacks at their gatherings? If what the NAACP says about the TP is true, that would be like the KKK having black members showing up at crossburnings. The NAACP is a racist organization, and the sooner the populist recognizes that, the better we will be as a nation. Their reason to exist has long since been passed. All you have to look at for confirmation of that is the Obama Justice Department dropping the case on the New Black Panther Party for what happened in Philadelphia. If anything, it's the whites who are the new minorities in this country. Maybe we should start a new organization labeled NAAWP.
ReplyDeleteYou need to watch MSNBC...Rachel had it. Faux reported it wrong though tonight they omitted overtly blaming it on Obama, now that the facts are uncovered. It was the BUSH administration that decided not to pursue the charges agaisnt that black panther thing, which was just shuckin and jivin by a couple dumb asses. Not so big conspiracy like back in the sixties. That came out today but I bet you won't catch a retraction on Faux.
ReplyDeleteNother story, Rachel had today. Remember Shawn Hannit'y big Faux revelation that ACORN was caught in a video sting helping a pimp and a hooker set up a import business of underage girls? Faux ran the video of the Acorn guy asking questions of the stingers, Faux cut and spliced like he was helping them.
MSNBC got the raw video and showed him asking for phone numbers and stuff. and then immediately after they left his California office, he called the police and reported them. Faux didn't report that. They won't, for it would reveal they falsified the story that eventually killed ACORN.
Nor did I catch them report that the two people who ran the sting had a suit filed against them today because it's illegal in California to tape someone without their permission.
Fact is, Faux is being shown to stage news, virtually fake news. They never retract. Always watch MSNBC if youre going to watch Faux. MSNBC keeps those assholes honest. Or if not that, then at least see the Media Matters link site about once a week.
Have you noticed that when O'Reilly was doing his own thing, a year or two he didn't always take the Republican side.
