Friday's Funny Headline: JoCo candidates say “no” to helping pay for Kansas City Zoo
Remember this the next time any Kansas City politico pushes the idea of "regionalism" or wants to build yet another amenity to attract the crowd from The Golden Ghetto. These are folks who think that snacks they buy at The Stadiums pay for their true cost or that one $8 beer will cover the tab at the P&L District that loses millions every year.
Face it KC Proper, so many in JoCo just doesn't like you and they not only refuse to help pay for attractions catered to their crowd but also enjoy watching the urban core fail nearly as much as I enjoy gawking at Jennifer Ellison wearing lingerie.
I don't really disagree.

ReplyDeleteI hope you don't mind, but these readers might like a translation:
'I would like to nestle against your breasts cold winter at night in Siberia.'
It looks better in Russian.
As a 30 year resident of JoCo who goes to the Omaha zoo more often than the KC zoo, can I just ask KCMO to keep their hands to themselves?
ReplyDeleteChimpotle, let me nestle next to you.
ReplyDeleteWhy should JoCo help pay (other than through admission charges) for the KC Zoo? Does KCMO help pay for the Deanna Rose Farmstead?
ReplyDeleteKCMO used to be a major city with pride. Now it just whimpers around and whines about JoCo not paying for things.
Maybe KCMO should just shut down the zoo and other facilities if it doesn't have the where with all to maintain them.
This sort of attitude just emphasizes that KCMO is now a second-rate city and not really the leading city of this metro area called "Kansas City."
Boys, thars a Russky her amongst us!
ReplyDeleteGreetings comrades!
ReplyDeleteGreetings comrades!
ReplyDeleteJust look at the mayor and council. And the murder rate. And the schools. And infrastructure. And infighting.
ReplyDeleteWhat's proper about Kansas City? Nothing. With 435, we can fly in and out of KC and not even drive through the ghetto.
Leawood's thinking about annexing Red Bridge. Otherwise... what else is there? And have the Barry Road strip just secede into the county. Like Miss Mona's. Just shut it DOWN!
Johnson County exists because of the old phenonomen called "white flight". It was created out of privelege and fear. Yet, the infrastructure that supports its existence has left a huge footprint from the standpoint of energy consumption and environmental threat. Way to go Johnson County pukes!
ReplyDelete3:25- envy sucks, huh?
ReplyDeleteNot privilege and fear at all. One look at the murder and other crime rates and see that it's just a matter of security. Not fear. Just practical.
ReplyDeleteNot to mention lousy snow removal, a city that really doesn't work. Union paramedics? Don't get me started!
privilege is a good thing. People work to get privilege. It's a byproduct of success. As is safety and good schools for children, free of youths with knives and metal detectors and keyed down classes for the one parent rappers.
The last two comments are right on the money. Behavior and performance have consequences and KCMO fails on both counts.
ReplyDeleteIf KCMO were a business, would you buy its stock?
Neither would I!
If you folks stand by your word then that means that you won't be voting for ANY of the incumbents on the Council.
ReplyDeleteAnd I think Beth And Deb deserve at least consideration.
This should be the year incumbents are voted OUT!
ReplyDeleteIN DC and local governments. Not to say we want corporate shillers in the form of Republicans to replace democrats, we just need to start practicing our own form of TERM LIMITS. And do it in the PRIMARIES!
Time to dump the Rangles and the Rizzos. And certainly all of the GOP bigwigs who made such asses of themselves by sayin 'no, no, no' when we wanted some health care reform.
And what was that Reno trip for the county? Kiss of death, IMHO!
It may be white flight, but you'll have to admit there was something to flee.
ReplyDeleteKansas City a des bien ecoles.
ReplyDeleteJoCo people already pay for KCMO's trash service involuntarily (if they work in KCMO). Until JoCo reciprocates with a similar tax for KCMO people, I think JoCo has done enough for the people of KCMO.
ReplyDeleteIf KCMO wants to pay for things then they should fix their schools, infrastructure, governance etc. and attract people to actually live IN the city without giving them free property tax. JoCo shouldn't have to pay for KCMO's tax giveaways, we have our own stuff to pay for.
