While there's nobody as powerful as female bodybuilder Debi Laszewski in this cowtown. The locals came close this week. Here's a list of who stayed winning:
POLITICOS
1. Councilman Terry Riley - There wasn't a bigger political move this week then the Jackson County hopeful getting the AFL-CIO to stand down on an endorsement for Union guy and Jackson County incumbent Fred Arbanas.
2. Theresa Garza Ruiz - A big endorsement from Freedom Inc. confirms her as a local powerhouse.
3. Will Royster - THEY say he's gonna win. I'm not sure. But I am certain that the person who is left standing at the end of the political brawl will have proven their political fortitude.
4. Henry Rizzo - The Jackson County Incumbent has all but destroyed Crystal Williams and his opposition just can't inspire people with to vote AGAINST the veteran politico without offering a viable alternative. Seriously, when folks ask "What's so great about Crystal Williams?" There is silence followed only by personal attacks against her opposition.
5. Jan Marcason - Summer is the social season in Kansas City politics and this local Council lady can be seen at all the best places in town. She knows everybody, she's extremely cordial and that kind of understated POWER is what really runs Kansas City.
NEWSIES
1. Russ Ptacek - Once again the dude just keeps tearing The Bannister Mall story apart. This is what he found today: Bannister Federal Complex warned of daycare risks in withheld report. WITHOUT QUESTION: This is one of the most important stories in Kansas City right NOW!!!
2. Pete Dulin and Pam Taylor - Present Magazine is still around. One of these days they might even be strong enough to start paying all of their contributors. Until then, their dedication to their Independent news venture is powerful.
3. Marcus Moore - One of my favorite reporters covering all aspects of local life. The guy just isn't on the news enough.
4. DeAnn Smith - Check her hot tweets.
5. Walt Bodine - He's above ground and on-air and that's enough.
LOSING LOCAL BIZ
1. The White Haven - The home of my favorite campy sign on Metcalf is closing.
2. The P&L District - The Party Continues along with the big bills paid by Kansas City.
3. The Kansas City Strip - Seriously, the trolley idea not working out.
4. Dead Tree Version The Star - Does anyone believe that an army of trucks delivering two day old "news" is a realistic business model in the future?
5. Union Station - A nice place to cool down during the day . . . Because it's cold, empty and quiet.
As always, this list has been compiled according to scientific TKC polling and market research data and it's the strongest guide to local powerful people.
I strongly suspect you are a dweeb.
ReplyDeleteNobody can argue with this list!
ReplyDeleteHA!
ReplyDeleteTony do you even like half the people listed here?
WHY DIDN'T THE 'PORNO" TROLLEY GET THE AX WITH THE STRIP CLUBS. DRUNK OBNOXIOUS WOMEN SHOWING THEIR TITS ON IT SHOULD BE ILLEGAL AS WELL.
ReplyDeleteIF word got around it was a porno trolley, I bet the ridership would increase!
ReplyDeletePower to the peephole?
ReplyDeleteYou do realize most of the politicals and newsies are just pulling stuff out their asses don't you?
ReplyDeleteDon't you?
Oh never mind...
Really?
ReplyDeleteTony,
ReplyDeleteStop acting like a groupie with these stupid politicos. I can see the stain on your panties from city hall.
Crystal Williams is a far superior candidate...Rizzo is dishonest to the point of criminality. The old boys club is alive & well in the Jackson County legslature....
ReplyDeleteHi Sharon Ko at 7:30.
ReplyDeleteI have personally worked with BOTH Henry Rizzo and Crystal Williams.
ReplyDeleteCrystal is a hard worker who knows what she's doing. Henry is UTTERLY WITHOUT AN ETHICAL COMPASS.
If you don't do anything else right this year, do this one thing...
Vote for Crystal Williams.
Bummer re: White Haven. I hope someone preserves the sign.
ReplyDeleteNice list Tony
ReplyDeleteJust letting the officeholders and candidates who plan to go to the KCPRIDE event tonight that John Comstock will want you to play a game to make you look silly at the end of the night.
ReplyDeleteJohn is an immature man, and a bit of a sadist who gets off on making people do humiliating things. You really would not want video of what John will ask you to do to end up on the internet. Cameras are very small, often wireless and very good now. The only way you can be sure it will not is if you do not take part.
Those of you who want a public career just keep this in mind:
There is something called You Tube now. Sometimes one County Legislator is very interested in seeing another County Legislator put up for ridicule right before an election.
Enough Said? Fair Warning!
The Trolly idea wouldn't have worked out even in the 80's. A typical lame scheme that City Hall should've never gotten behind.
ReplyDeleteWow. Look at that guy's boobs!
