TKC EXCLUSIVE!!! ONLINE NEWSIE WHITNEY MATTHEWS STAYS WINNING!!!

Denizens of the Kansas City-area media scene already know Whitney Matthews. She is rather awesome and a strong advocate of the local online discourse.

Well . . . In yet another example that the way of the future is digital . . . TKC is happy to report:

NEWSIE WHITNEY MATTHEWS EARNED A MAJOR WIN FOR HER BLOGGY, DIGITAL, ONLINE EFFORTS!!!

Today, the Lawrence Journal-World set to announce that Matthews is taking over as Online Editor. She'll be responsible for content on and/or involved with LJWorld.com, KUSports.com, WellCommons.com, Lawrence.com and a bunch of upcoming niche sites that the media organization will soon be rolling out.

Let's remember, this newsie is excited about what's going on online, she's an active member of local online communities and she's even kinda cool to TKC . . . And her career is SERIOUSLY SKYROCKETING!!!

Compare and contrast this inspiring story to old and busted Kansas City Star newsies who have mostly nothing but hate toward blogs (especially TKC) and all things social media as they make their way toward unemployment.

Think about it.

  4. To Anonymous: Kealing is not gone. He is becoming the Assistant Director of Media Strategies and we're working together as we transition over the next few weeks.

  5. I'm still around. In my new role, I'll spend more time nurturing new sites we've launched and hope to launch soon, plus coordinating with advertising and charting long-term goals for growth across all of our sites. Basically, the goal is to spend more time on growing all of our sites and let Whitney work on the day-to-day operations that can consume you, but that are critical to a news operation. I'm very excited to have Whitney as part of the team. -- Jonathan Kealing
