Stigall's local radio audience is so small . . . That it's understandable that a great many of his crazy assertions get lost in the mix. But recently, Stigall's stupidity on the BP oil spill was simply too crazy to let slide.
A LITTLE MORE THAN A WEEK AGO KICKASS TKC TIPSTERS REPORT THAT STIGALL WAS DOWNPLAYING THE DISASTER AND PUSHING THE CORPORATE LINE!!!
A few of the dude's crazy listeners who also lurk here know that I'm not misquoting the guy.
Stigall noted "bigger spills in Mexico."
And he basically played the thing off as part of the drilling process.
AND NOW . . .
I think the dude is blaming Obama like everybody else and in much the same way that the hypocrites who were shouting "Drill, Baby, Drill" have now all become environmentalists when it comes to casting blame at the Black President.
But make no mistake, Stigall has flip-flopped on this one and the few people who are listening have taken a bit of interest.
And while I understand that everyone is allowed to have an opinion that "evolves" it's just unfortunate to hear that hate radio reactionaries only seem to be consistent when it comes to anti-Latino-immigration rhetoric.
one love.
ReplyDeleteIt's not surprising that the rightwing would misreport the spill. BP has lied throughout about the spill. This is a massive catastrophe brought about by a greedy, under-regulated industry interested only in its shareholders. The damage s done, and the ecosystem that used to be the Gulf of Mexico is essentially dead.
ReplyDeleteStigall is one of so many media liars...
Great photo, just perfect.
ReplyDeleteWe did not notice because most of us are smart enough not to listen to right-wing radio. Join the smart crowd and quit listening to them Tony.
ReplyDeleteFirst, Obama makes them drill in mile-deep water because drilling close to shore is "hazardous" - is that right? Second, Obama regulators (Mines & Minerals) were in charge of inspection. Third, BP didn't actually do the drilling. It was contracted out by companies specializing in such work. Please tell me - has BP shirked its responsibilities since it happened?
ReplyDeleteAll of a sudden ever dickhead in town is an expert in offshore drilling.
ReplyDeleteThere is no such thing as an "expert in offshore drilling."
ReplyDeleteHe's not just the "Black President" he's all of our President.
ReplyDeleteRemember,, the previous president and vp were 'famous' oilmen. The only thing Obama can be blamed for is not nationalizing BP. (British Polluters.)
ReplyDeleteAny of you who think Stigall is leading his own charge has a limited understanding of radio, particularly commercial radio.
ReplyDeleteReady? Here is the big secret.....it's show business, nothing more, and a whole lot less. Stigall is an actor, paid by a large, very large consolidator of radio stations. His contract depends on ratings and revenue, so he will act in a way to increase both, his personal involvement is minimal, he puts on his costume and hits the mike and is "on"
Getting worked up over anything anyone hears or sees on a commercial broadcasting outlet is like getting upset over Tom and Jerry violence.
It's all a sham
Anon 9:06 am is partially true. It is hard to totally fake it.
ReplyDeleteDo you really think Dennis Hopper was the maniac killer in Blue Velvet?
ReplyDeleteFake is easy, the truth is the hard part.
For a change, these are are really good comments.
ReplyDeleteThe two funniest things you do on your joke blog Tony are the photo of Stigall and the photo of the Waldo Rapist as the creature from the black lagoon. I laugh every time.
ReplyDeleteTee, the best line in a long time:
ReplyDeleteI think the dude is blaming Obama like everybody else and in much the same way that the hypocrites who were shouting "Drill, Baby, Drill" have now all become environmentalists when it comes to casting blame at the Black President.
The live and locals at both white wing wadio stations are Tory whores and everybody but the sheep know it.
Yeah it all BP's fault.
ReplyDeleteBTW did you use oil to drive to work today?
What to solve the problem quit driving your car. No demand....... No supply.
Great post Tony. I noticed that too. It's disgusting how people like Stigall can get away with saying that there were bigger spills in Mexico? What? Even at BP's "conservative" estimate this is the largest spill ever. If you listen to their worst case scenario estimate, it's twice as bad as the worst ever. So what is there to dicuss?
ReplyDeleteYou can't blame this on The Obama Administration; he was in a lose lose situation. If he didn't make BP do the work, everyone would have been at his throat. Now that he has made BP do the work everyone is still at his throat.
When is America and "drill baby drillers" going to learn that corporations don't have the better interest of America, or any country for that matter, at heart? It should be obvious given that we've been paying much more for much less in everything over the last 30 years.
Did you use oil to drive to work today?
ReplyDeleteDid you use oil to drive to work today?
ReplyDeleteDid you use oil to drive to work today?
ReplyDeleteSo your one of the many greedy Americans that doesn't want to give up their car to save the planet.
If you drove to work your part of the problem not the solution.
didnt Obama take a lot of money from BP?
ReplyDeleteStigall is good and isn't afraid to tell it like it is.
ReplyDeleteObama has been an utter failure from the start and has fallen short on all his promises.
You would do well Tony to stay away from real reporters as they make you look bad.
Your ideas can't compare with Stigall's as his are so much higher.
M
Texas Land & Water have microbes that eat oil ready to use which would save the grasslands, but Obama isn't using them, why?
ReplyDeleteWhy isn't Obama allowing people to use any means possible to clean up the oil?
Call Texas and ask them about the above...do something useful rather than attacking Stigall.
The BP spill could be a false flag. There is a large plume that was not reported that could cause greater problems.
ReplyDeleteFor Obama to with hold permission of those who want to use every method of clean up is insane.
Texas Land and Water commission has microbes that eat oil, Obama's knows this. Check it out, the grass lands could be saved!
Contact the above then get on your high horse and ask Obama why he's not using a known, tested, and failure proof way of saving the ecosystem. M
Just so I'm clear - you're sighting "unamed sources" to varify something you didn't hear Stigall say?
ReplyDeleteIs that like what you just claimed Helling did a few posts down.
Two can play this game, idiot.
I listen to Stigall quite often. This post isn't accurate at all. He's said all along that you can either blame Bush for Katrina AND Obama for BP or you can blame neither.
ReplyDeleteThis may be the only thing the right-wing nut-job has BACKED the president on.
Bad information, just poor facts here.
If you intend to be fair, you should analyze first responses. Like Katrina, the BP spill takes a while to actually analyze its seriousness.
ReplyDeleteIt takes 48 hours to actually determine the SEVERITY OF THE SUTUATION. Whether Katrina for BUSH, or the BP spill for Obama.
IF BP downplays the severity of the situation, whether on purpose or understandably, don't be blaming the US GOVERNMENT or its leader for a little while.
Obama isn't SUPERMAN. When it became clear what we were dealing with, he did just fine. And yes, it took awhile because BP minimized the problem as long as they COULD!
Not Obama's fault. Had it happened during the Bush tenure, it would have been the same. So lets not turn this into a political issue. Shit happens. Lets all of us DEAL WITH IT!
Stigall supports Obama.
ReplyDeleteStupid.
Stigall is towing the BP line, too bad.
So why is he the Black President. Never in my life did I ever hear the term, The White President. To be honest, he's the Multi-racial President, or wigger in some circles, but I dy-gress. The fact is large Corporations and focused on profit, profit, profit and shareholders who want more profit. Who's to blame, both Obama and BP, equally. Who get's screwed... we the American people as usual. As for Chris Stigall, yes he's a Corporate Suit... ah, Corporat Jeans guy, but he's not as bad as Rush and Hanity who are purely in it for the money. Now, Michael Savage...there's a true American looking at for the country... Borders, Language, and Culture...baby!
