For as much of a lame duck as Mayor Funky is and given the fact that he does nothing but demonstrate his incompetence day in and out . . . It would be unwise to overlook a rather significant fact:
FOR NOW, LOCAL 42 AND THE FIREFIGHTERS ARE STILL IN MAYOR FUNKY'S CAMP!!!
Remember that the world class ambulance service MAST was torn apart by Mayor Funky and some of the Council at the behest of Union Boss Louie Wright and crew . . . So they certainly have to return a favor and pay back their political debt.
Also, it would be unwise to overlook these dudes as a voting bloc. They have a great record of picking winners and they still employ the 9/11 street cred of the NYFD to pick up skanks at local bars along with impressing political neophytes who instinctively grab ankle in the face of authority.
Therefore . . . This is almost like a double win for folks who don't like the undue influence of this special interest. If the firefighters stick with lame duck Co-Mayor Funky . . . They'll back a losing candidate in a high profile race and thereby lose a bit of political clout i.e. drop blood in the water for the haters. And if they dump Mayor Funky . . . Then the dude is COMPLETELY without any organized support (Gloria's foot washing and nail clipping kit doesn't count.)
Either way . . . TKC Stays Winning by demonstrating that Democracy is pretty much a myth in Kansas City and elections are decided by a vast array of special interests who are primarily concerned with their cut above all else. Natch.

ReplyDeleteI think Chris Moreno is great. I don't know any politico that popular in diverse communities. I remember watching him speak a few years ago and thinking this guy is good.
