From all of the reports I've heard . . . Council Lady Deb Hermann had a HUGELY SUCCESSFUL FUNDRAISER AT MANNY'S LAST NIGHT!!!
There were more than 100 people in attendance, some of them were actually kind of important and the Westside gathering was reportedly rather financially successful as well.
This is nice news and there will be snark later . . . But for the moment it's important to give everybody their shot. Developing . . .

ReplyDelete9:12... that's just mean-spirited talk from either a Rowland supporter or someone betting to lose on Mike Burke. Deb is a nice looking woman and a consummate professional and she is the only candidate who can claim that on her resume. And she certainly doesn't "want to lay off City staff". Thank the brilliance of Wayne Cauthen for running our finances into the ground with the help of that idiot Jeff Yates. And who was running things during the spend it at all costs administration? Steve Glorioso was calling the shots from 29, and Burke was lining his pockets with sweetheart development deals approved by Kay. When you have people such as these screwing up the budget, and then Deb gets one chance a year to get the budget put in order, you have to admire her integrity, honesty, tenacity, and directness. She'll be a great mayor, and she's got my vote (and others to boot!).

I will grant that she will likely never be featured on Tony's blog greased up wearing a thong and go-go boots eating a Tootsie Pop from her own cleavage, but she is certainly attractive, well-dressed and professional-looking. You should watch Channel 2 sometimes. You would see that she is actually very pleasant. Maybe you could learn to be nice from her.

I disagree with Toadie's plan. It was a field of 13 that Funk'd us in the first place. We need a small field to keep someone marginal from getting in. I hope that before February a few will get out. I hope Mike and Deb aren't both running, because it reduces the chances that either of them will actually win. I hope in January the one with less support will get out and support the other one.
