  1. Who would want things to be the same after Karen? Absolutely noone who cares about KCUMB. And many who care about KCUMB think Weaver and the board members who, stood by toasting with expensive wine/liquor and slapped each other on the back when Pletz was up to her alleged deeds, should be invited or have the decency on their own to 'head for the hills.' Those individuals including foremost: Weaver, T. Nelson Mann, Derrin Haug, Cheryl Dillerd, Derron Cherry, Rosann Parrish (several of whom are on the payroll, even though they are or were board members) should all be ashamed of themselves. These two professionals (Stanton and Falk) were savvy enough to get Weaver's number and hit the road and it didn't take long. When will the currently sitting board get into gear and invite all those culpable (surely they can read 990s www.guidestar.org like any average person and find out who the responsible board members are...) to follow?

  2. Since Tony likes KCBizJournal, here's a link to a very good article to reread or read in case you missed it before (speaks to board responsibility in situations like this, and the need to act decisively and swiftly):

  3. Far too many board members show up only for the monthly board meeting. Many of us sit on quite a few boards. Too many boards? Keeping up with the functions of our agencies/ businesses AND keeping an eye on the financial statements is very time consuming. But we are held responsible as members when we sign off, usually by voice vote, on the budget items including the audits.
Karen Pletz used razzle dazzle to
charm everyone in KC. We should have seen it coming.
Remember to watch VERY carefully the person who looks you unnervingly straight in the eye, he may have his hand in your pocket.
