Thanks to TKC Readers who wanted everybody to get a look at this one . . . The claim: THE BUSINESS BUDDIES OF Former City Manager Wayne Cauthen might be in big trouble.
Here's what showed up in my e-mail a couple of times from folks pushing the story: "T, you have to read this piece from the New Orleans Times-Picayune? MWH of Colorado, Wayne Cauthen's favorite consultants and the firm that created the CIMO monstrosity, are caught up in a bribery scandal."
They continue: "The money quote 'MWH paid MCCI more than $3 million for work assessing damage to the water and sewer systems caused by Hurricane Katrina, according to prosecutors. The Edwards brothers split the bulk of it.'"
Thankfully, Kansas City local government has avoided a kickback back scheme . . . But that's probably because nobody cares to think about what local government is doing.
Now here's a real loser, even more so than Zack.
ReplyDeleteWhy is it that white collar crime in Missouri is never prosecuted by the state? The only time city hall is ever investigated, it's only done by the feds. When Todd Graves was US District Attorney, he never prosecuted a single case of political corruption. Hopefully the new (Obama) District Attorney won't be so lazy.
ReplyDeleteUS District Attorneys who investigated Republicans were fired by Bush.
ReplyDeleteThe only reason KC government has avoided a kickback scandal is because Terry Riley hasn't been indicted yet. But give the FBI time... they'll get him. And his little dog, too!
