Mayor Funky Follows Cameras To Jeff City

KCTV5: Funkhouser Heads To Jeff City On Ford Plant Incentives . . . It's a nice gesture which completely ignores that his connection to the Missouri General Assembly is pretty much non-existent and TKC has better communication to Kansas City elected officials in Jeff City than this town's Mayor.

  1. Keep him away from my Capital office.

  2. Ford should ask for the same terms as we give sports teams. Buildings that don't pay property taxes, we pay utilities, we pay for them to operate(pay for management), we pay to upgrade and maintain buildings.

  3. Just last week this goofy Mayor said he stood against the privileged few. What is the Ford Motor Company, if not the corporate elite ?? Yes it is also about jobs but so are other tax incentives he goes off on.

blasted bastard funk'd stands on top of "regular folk" as he reaches for his second term. He uses the blue collar worker as a stage prop.
This guy told the truth in his deposition for the SUCCESSFUL EEOC LAWSUIT that he did not see himself as a 9-5 guy. He said he didn't like working, just wanted to sit on his porch, sucking down beer.
That's what he does now as he tramples "regular folks"
I've had it with him and any council member who helped him screw us over.

  6. Everything he doesn't do is wrong. Advocating to keep a carmaking plant going and in the city is definately part of a Mayor's job.

Cut him some slack on THIS one. He's done enough stupid stuff, but to harass him for doing RIGHT, generally, just hurts your credibility, jack!

They're not even wrong about a thousand room hotel, but it should have been done twenty years ago when Bartle's paint was fresh. Pretty tough today, getting someone to take risks when we're not sure if the western economies might still go bankrupt during a miseast war.

People are stashing gold, and dollars under their mattress. The buisness mortgage collapse hasn't even happened yet. I think maybe the Shitty Council doesn't read the financial pages!

Not a good time for long term borrowing, even at THESE interest rates. And to risk taxpayer money when KC is the incredible shrinking urban city? This isn't 1955!

Kansas City Missouri is about over with. The new downtown is along the College Blvd Corridor in KANSAS and if anybody would build a train, it should be along College Blvd, up the 435 medial strip to KCI and back. With huge parking lots at 63rd. 75th, 87th and College.

If they want to swing it over to 71 and then north to parking lots in Mo at 95th, 63rd to east of downtown and then on up to a Gladstone lot, and then KCI, well fine.

I'm sure some bureaucrat with a computer map knows where the employment clusters are located in the Metro, and can drop train stops there, with bus pickups to the secondaries, and commuter parking lots like they have on Long Island.

But it's clear, this is way bigger than Waldo, Brookside, Plaza... yada yada. If they'd lay the track for the whole thing, and build the parking lots, well once war int he mideast happens and gas hits $6 bucks, well, the trains and buses will be full all right, because people have to EAT!

  7. But Radioman, I thought you wanted Kansas City razed? Why bother saving only the parts you think should be saved? Raze the whole damn city! Talk about being objective-you truly are.

  8. Radioman:

"Cut him some slack on THIS one?

Are you kidding? Whatever he does to support Ford will be inconsequential, because HE IS.

The real issue is: COULD HE SCREW IT UP?

I think we know the answer to that one ... don't we?

  9. The Co-mayors should live in Claycomo and not brookside.
