Kansas City Social Media Club Standoff!!!

In my humble opinion, there are two, too many social media clubs in Kansas City. Nevertheless, a SMCJoCo chapter recently sprang up with approval from the national chapter and it's not making the current SMCKC chapter very happy.

A RATHER AWESOME TKC TIPSTER directs us toward The Life Story Of Mark blog which explains the whole hot mess in great detail: "Does Kansas City area need another Social Media Club?"

Given that it kinda seems like both of these clubs are excuses for marketing people to leave the office . . . I don't really care.

Still . . .

TKC IS DECLARING A KANSAS CITY GEEK WAR!!!

Sadly, in this contest there are no winners given that ad people looking to cash in on local social media haven't had very much luck thus far.

  1. Joco is a vastly different place than the few crumbs you guys are scuttling for.

This would be a vastly better world to live in if Tony Botello decided to handle his emotional problems more responsibly and set himself on fire.

  7. I was looking for more meaty post and was kind of disappointed, dude. FYI, the link to VanBaale's article is broken - or has been removed.

My Take: Two clubs - not such a bad idea. And I'm not aware that anyone is calling this a "war." But then, I'm often in the dark about petty things like that.

People live all over this sprawling metro area. If you can't always make it to one gathering but can make it to another, that's a good thing. For everyone. And for anyone who doesn't "get" the fact that social media is about people, being social, online and IRL, they can, as Chelsea Handler so aptly puts it "suck it."

My Suggestion: If the only comment someone is capable of leaving immediately identifies them as an asshat engaging in doucebaggery, they would be better off refraining from commenting. Secondly, get some balls and own up to your comments, asshats.

    Lovely to see you.
