DEMOCRATS ON THE BOULEVARD

Just got back from The Missouri House Democratic Campaign Committee fundraiser at Boulevard Brewery.

I had an interesting chat with Missouri State Rep. Jason Holsman and Incoming Democrat Leader Mike Talboy. Talboy has a new website worth a peek. For a while I've been noting that Kansas City has made some strides at the State Level and these two guys have been instrumental in making that progress happen.

Also, there was free food and beer so of course I was there . . .

Missouri State Senator Jolie Justus made an appearance and was nice enough to give TKC readers a smile for the camera. Just took a look at her website and it's certainly a rather gully page that gives us great detail on what she's doing.

Dave Coffman was in the house along with a friend from AT&T and a lady you might recognize currently running for the 39th District seat . . . More on that later.

In the middle is Holsman's awesome wife Robyn, Chris Weber, the legislative coordinator from the Association of Missouri Electric Cooperatives and one of their homies.

Finally, I talked just a bit with Missouri House Democratic Campaign Committee Danny Powell, Treasurer and Finance Director Sarah White.

All things considered it was a pretty good time and yet another sign that local Dems are keeping busy and far more connected to Kansas City than their Republican Counterparts.

  1. Did you give money?

  2. How can Powell associate with that pond scum after what they did to his business partner Chris Moreno?

  3. Was Dan Ryan there? He is such a nice guy.

  4. The Dems talk a really good game about being "for the people" and against corruption, but they are liars.

Take for example Karen Conrad, who slaves for Fred Arbanas.

They send out letters talking about how they help the public, but then Karen sends out emails (using her county government title) trying to solicit campaign donations from business:

Jim and Dave: Attached you will find information on Fred Arbanas. To date, we have received all democratic club endorsements and would be most honored to receive your "Seal of Approval" for his re-election to the Jackson County Legislature. If you have any questions and/or need additional information please feel free to ask. Thank you in advance for your consideration and review of the material.

    Karen Conrad, Legislative Aide
    3rd District At-Large
    Jackson County Legislature

You would think she would be smart enough to not use her county title when she solicits political help. I guess she and the old football player are just corrupt.

did they even tell anyone it was going to happen?

  9. Not sure who translated Mike Talboy's website to Spanish but it was definitely not someone who speaks Spanish as a first language. It is full of errors.

  10. 9:30 Karen Conrad is corrupt because she sent an e-mail from her personal e-mail address? She didn't send it from her Jackson County E-mail. She is legally allowed to state her job title in e-mails as long as she doesn't do it from a county e-mail.
