Credit to KMBC newsie DeAnn Smith for some rather amazing reporting on the behind the scenes details of Mayor Funky's State Of the Shitty speech this afternoon.
Remember that on Tuesday TKC readers talked about the crappy timing of the speech.
Here's the first of many money quotes from the report:
Three council members weren't at the speech and a fourth arrived late. Councilman Russ Johnson said he purposefully skipped the speech.
"This mayor is leaving a legacy to our children of empty words and empty promises. Our children deserve better," Johnson told KMBC.com. "I've heard enough. I've shown more respect to the mayor's office than the mayor has."
And then it gets even better . . .
"Johnson said he wanted the meeting canceled because only one item was slated for debate and he didn't want to waste taxpayer money on a superfluous meeting. He said after the paperwork was ready and he was prepared to push the measure to cancel the meeting did he learn it was the day of the State of the City address.
"He said he was literally standing on the council floor when Hermann told him about the significance of Thursday's meeting.
"I chuckled," he said. "It was kind of late at that point but I did think it was kind of funny."
"He said he had no desire to attend the speech.
"I've heard enough," Johnson said."
So once again, Council dude Johnson has a good time at The Mayor's expense and gets a bit of an afternoon workout on Mayor Funky who now has a new title of "Kansas City's Favorite Punching Bag."

Russ Johnson is a dick. He is a combination of that man whore John Fairfield and Jim Glover the bore. Think about it. No one likes Russ except when he does something like this.

The Shitty Council and Wayne "I received poor performance ratings in a row" Cauthen have driven this city to near bankruptcy. Let's put blame were it belongs. The Mayor is only one vote. Wayne "the porn pusher" Cauthen was in charge of running the city operations. Johnson is just another d-bag.
