The Jackson County Legislator up for reelection was excited about her victory on facebook recently. Garza Ruiz noted that she "received a phone call and several text messages telling her that she has indeed received the endorsement of the oldest African-American Democratic Club in Kansas City, Freedom Incorporated! Thank you to everyone that voted on my behalf tonight. It is GREATLY appreciated!!!"
There are other notable endorsements but this one is my favorite.

ReplyDeleteI thought, based on previous blog posts here on TKC, that Freedom Inc. was a dying organization and as such its endorsements mean squat.

ReplyDeleteEndorsements do mean something, if the group DOES something. Freedom, Inc. does nothing, so their endorsements are meaningless.
ReplyDeletemeaningless and expensive. remember Freedom Inc goes to the highest bidder. or at least the campaign that gives the most money to Craig Bland's brother Rodney for "consultations."
ReplyDeleteI agree with 8:06, when dealing with two urban candidates this endorsement doesn't do much. But I think this case is different and will play important as Garza-Ruiz will now pull in more ubran votes. I don't know either really well, but I think this endorsement will give a landslide win for her.
