As the Mayoral election keeps creeping up tons of local polling information is starting to make its way through Kansas City political circles.
Here's the latest . . .
WORD IS THAT ONLY 16-17% OF KANSAS CITY VOTERS WOULD RE-ELECT MAYOR FUNKY!!!
Seriously, I'm surprised it's that high.
I'm sure that there's some way Kendrick can spin this news into something upbeat because his job duties are nearly indecipherable to even his colleagues and most people think they consist of commenting anonymously on this blog and The Star's website.
Still, the figures I'm hearing for Co-Mayor Funky's re-electability are absolutely horrible and reinforce my assertion that he's a lame duck.
Nevertheless, there's no reason to let him off the hook for his constant flip-flopping and bad ideas. During the election he's going to become even more dangerous as he gets desperate and Kansas City will probably grow even more tired of the various schemes employed by Co-Mayor Funky and Squitiro to try and hold on to power.
booty.
ReplyDelete16-17% may be enough to get him into the general election...and then, depending on which person is running against him in the general election, he could still win the vote. Not the strongest cast of characters running against him at this point.
ReplyDeleteForget anyone but Funk. Not one candidate is better than him. I hear Riederererer is thinking about running. No friggen way. No Jackson County BS here. Never trust anyone who looks like Hitler.
ReplyDeleteMy paranoid fantasy is much like Anon @ 9:25. Funk uses his name recognition to get almost 20% of the primary vote, finishing perhaps as high as second.
ReplyDeleteThis gets him into the finals and then you could have just about anything, with voters looking at a lesser of two evils type of situation, holding their noses, and figuring things can't get any worse with another four years.
I do hope, for the sake of Kansas City, it is just a paranoid fantasy.
KCMO is a lost cause at this point. I don't blame Funkhouser for that entirely, but he sure did his share of damage to our city in 3 short years. Many of my neighbors here in Northeast have left KC in the last 3 years. I'll be leaving for one of the suburbs soon too, and many more will follow after I'm gone. KCMO will soon lose its status as the metro's anchor city. The only reason is dirty politics, plain and simple.
ReplyDeleteNo, the only reason is the economic and racial mix of the city. And the result of that which is the public schools.
ReplyDeleteMiddle class parents just don't want to send their kids to schools where pubescent kids sing on videos (Jackson County Boyz) and hold on to their dicklets as they do. Not that the 90210 crowd locally is that much more wholesome!
I would never have sent my kids to a school where they had to walk through metal detectors to go to class. I didn't. It was worth the extra money I had to pay in taxes and house payments.
I'm sure anyone who CAN get out of the inner city will, or has. If for no other reason than the school quality.
Not the quality of the system, but the quality of the pupils and their families. I'm sure KCSD has quality teachers and administrators, and certainly plant assets. But the classmates have vastly more influence over our cherubs and the school culture than the institution itself does.
We adults have completely forgotten that once grade school is over and our species hits puberty, adults have much less influence over young peoples' culture than the lower influences of our society.
Teens turn from their parents and focus on independence from parents. Thats why you can send your kids to Project DARE but the first middle school friend who hands your kid a joint a year later, he'll forget all that DARE adult stuff, and take a hit! And not outgrow it for a decade!
Funchowder Fun!
ReplyDeleteRadioman, I agree with most of what you say. The race issue I believe plays a smaller role than the local government, and the awful KCMSD's old guard. Politico's have seen all the indicators pointing to failure within the district, yet they choose to do nothing to attempt an improvement by way of seeking control of the district as has worked well in other cities such as Chicago and Boston. Schools do have a big impact on a city's quality of living, but the politics will always play a larger role as the politico's agendas also dictate the quality of living-basic services for example as opposed to building and supporting grand structures in our city's core. We've squandered our money on these structures/entertainment districts, while seemingly ignoring our neighborhoods, and thats the reason I'm leaving.
ReplyDeleteDARE doesn't work, do your homework.
ReplyDeleteWatch for socialist UNIONS coming in and working for "their person". Rea was supported by SEIU, LA RAZA, West is community activist, who did the TEACHERS UNION support for a boss?...need I go on?
Think ahead, who do you want during another Plaza incident or illegal riots? There coming.
Not that I support the Funk, but what can he do when the Star has all the ink?
ReplyDeleteDid you know the Star made phone calls to possible convention groups and invited them NOT TO COME? The Star behind our backs told people not to book conventions here!
You trust the Star and who they support?
Why should we trust you when you make such an outlandish claim?
ReplyDeleteHopefully its not one of those "trusted" Pat Gray polls that always has his clients ahead.
ReplyDeleteJustin Bieber
ReplyDelete"KCMO is a lost cause at this point." Yep - another inner-city resident who's planning to be out of here (KCMO) within the next year to year and a half.
ReplyDeleteRadioman - not everyone is leaving because of the schools. Some of us don't have kids. I'm leaving because the government sucks and the leaders are all ass backwards.
Some people saw Funkhouser as a last hope to turn tis ship around. He FAILED. There is no hope for this city.

Sorry man, I can't wait that long. I'm out of here in the next 6-8 weeks as it really doesn't take long to cut your losses and get out.
Move along. No cry babies needed. We got that with the co-mayors.
ReplyDeleteNot crying-just pissed off. And, I'm moving right along-far away from the co-mayors.
ReplyDeleteIt's not the co-mayors that complete scare me away (though they do come close), but the impending E-tax vote.
ReplyDeleteso radiogloria, you didn't let your kids ride the bus because of the exhaust, but how did the ugly parting of ways come about regarding St Teresa's?
ReplyDeleteOver estimate.
ReplyDeleteGood bye Co-mayors (clampets) load up Jed,Granny,Ellie Maye,Jethro, and the kids back to West Virginia.
ReplyDeleteThat is one ugly ass man. There is nothing good with his nasty ass. I just cannot stand him.
ReplyDeleteWhat a weird thread this was.
ReplyDeleteFirst, my kids didn't go to St Teresa's, where ever that is but YES my kids did serve some time in Catholic schools.
I moved them to suburban public schools because I wanted my kids to have more access to the pure sciences and public schools are just better funded. And yup, that paid off. They had good basics in Catholic schools but my kids ended up with advanced degrees and very techno professions well beyond my own because of good suburban science based schools. As I did.
Where you go to school is so important. I have one kid who finished up in New York and that absolutely had everything to do with the company she ended up with and the engineering projects she's working on. Ya just don't get those jobs coming out of Johnson County Community College.
Same for my boy child and his PhD. I do remember a guy I worked with who was so glad all his kids graduated from high school and left, so he could buy a boat.
His views and my views were so different in our life's objectives.
