We've all been thinking about it. This town is definitely going to get a new Mayor but there have been a lot of questions about the old City Council and who will get the axe from Kansas City voters. . . . There has been A LOT of talk about the subject but so far, no information.
Thankfully, KICKASS TKC TIPSTERS are already putting together their favorites for the Next City Council.
CHECK OUT THE VERY FIRST LOOK AT HOW THE NEW CITY COUNCIL COULD LOOK NEXT ELECTION!!!
Check it:
LOOK AT DRAMATIC CHANGE FOR THE NORTHLAND NOW THAT BOTH SKAGGS AND HERMANN HAVE TERMED OUT!!!
IN THE 1ST DISTRICT: The leader in the race seems to be Dick Davis. The Former ATA dude has started early and a great many connections have put him far ahead of any competition.
FOR THE 1ST DISTRICT AT-LARGE: Scott Wagner seems to be out front. A seemingly nice guy (for a marketing dude) most of his experience is neighborhood based but he certainly has the early lead.
IN THE 2ND DISTRICT: More news on this one later but for the most part I think Council Dude Russ Johnson stays winning. He has experience in this neighborhood "shoe leather" campaign and he already talked Dillingham out of a challenge. All of the folks who really hate Russ are on the other side of the River and for the most part he has kept his constituents happy.
FOR THE 2ND DISTRICT AT-LARGE: Ed Ford is the incumbent facing the toughest challenge in this next election. This blog broke news that Allen Dillingham was in the race and now I have BREAKING NEWS that Carl DiCapo is his Treasurer. Di Capo is a big time Kansas City Political player and a Kansas City Fund-raising machine. Look for a nasty fight out North over this spot.
IN THE 3RD DISTRICT: Michael Fletcher is already increasing his public profile with P&L District Protests, Waldo Rapist Press Conferences and a lot of activity all over this town's political spectrum. He has more resources than incumbent Sharon Sanders Brooks but this still could be the most interesting race to watch.
FOR THE 3RD DISTRICT AT-LARGE: Council Lady Melba Curls takes a lot of criticism about her knowledge of the legislative process but everyone agrees she's a nice lady. I don't know if nice is enough to keep her Council Seat Away from Rev. Michael Brooks but this will be a low key race that's won on shoe leather and a connection with the community. The name of Council Lady Curls rings out and Brooks has his work cut out for him.
IN THE 4TH DISTRICT: Kicked off committees, Jan Marcason now has even more time to put into campaigning and fundraising. This lady will make an example out of any competition just to prove she's on her way to becoming the next lady Mayor.
FOR THE 4TH DISTRICT AT-LARGE: Nobody beats Beth Gottstein. Nobody.
Anne McGregor is going to give it her best shot but I'm not sure about the chance she has without Harris Wilder support.
IN THE 5TH DISTRICT: I keep hearing Ken Bacchus is coming back. The Council can recycle old school politicos just as like the Mayor's race, I guess. Also, there's a chance the Michael Brooks might run for this seat too!!!
FOR THE 5TH DISTRICT AT-LARGE: Firefighters will make sure that Cindy Circo stays on another term to spit hot fire and do nails in her spare time.
IN THE 6TH DISTRICT: John Sharp isn't going back to delivering newspapers, his union buddies can talk tough on my blog and those dorks will cover the neighborhood for him and hide from TKC in public like roaches.
FOR THE 6TH DISTRICT AT-LARGE: The Cheerleader of The City Council Cathy Jolly is too cute for anyone to beat. While her popularity has suffered, remember that she garnered more votes than both Mayoral front runners. She is also an aspiring Lady Mayor.
Of course these names will change but for the most part this is THE BEST WORKING LIST IN KANSAS CITY RIGHT NOW concerning the upcoming Council Race. Natch.

Good stuff.
ReplyDeleteDillingham ran out of things to do so he decided to run for council. Just what we need a fucking lobbyist on council!
ReplyDeleteWhoa there, Ed. You seem a little tense.
ReplyDeleteDillingham is a decent guy and has a last name that will draw voters and shake the money lose. What he doesn't shake, DiCapo will. No wonder you're nervous.
Why do you think Jan would be next female Mayor? She isn't bad, but there are others that are more likely.
ReplyDeleteMichael Brooks lives in the 5th, not the 3rd. And is supposedly running for the 5th in district, not an at-large seat.
ReplyDeleteYou know, I think Anon 9:24 is onto something.
ReplyDeleteJan always was pretty good, a possible Mayoral candidate.
But Funkhouser's latest weasel-like action against her suddenly makes her look like THE ONE who should get to give his butt the kicking it deserves.
Reminds me of high school and the "who has popularity crap".
ReplyDeleteGrow up Kansas City.
This total crap and backwards Sharon & Fletcher 3rd in. District, michael Brooks 5th in district!
ReplyDeleteTony. I don't think so. Jan will run for Mayor.
ReplyDeleteLooks like Tony did some corrections. I can't believe that nobody will run against Melba?
ReplyDeleteOr Sharp.
ReplyDeleteThe smart money is on Anne McGregor in 4th District At-Large race by a long shot.
ReplyDeleteAnon 9:55 am -- why do you think Anne can defeat Beth?
ReplyDeleteAnne McGregor would be horrible for the 4th district and the city. Anybody But McGregor!
ReplyDelete11:19 why do you post these inane questions? Beth groupies are pretty obvious to spot.
ReplyDelete6th district is pitiful.
ReplyDeleteBecky Nace now lives in the 2nd district, doesn't she? She would make a formidable candidate. The last known council person who could say "no".
Rimerez and Aggie for the fourth. A double rebel rousing duo.
