TKC EXCLUSIVE!!! KANSAS CITY REMEMBERS BROKEN PROMISES: MAYOR FUNKY PRETTY MUCH IGNORED AT MEMORIAL DAY EVENT!!!

This day dedicated to Veterans who sacrificed for this nation and the dearly departed is marked by a number of nice events.

But politically, the biggest backlash going on in Kansas City right now is against our lame duck Mayor.

Really . . .

RIGHT NOW CHRIS STIGALL AND HIS D-BAG LISTENERS ARE RAGING AGAINST MAYOR FUNKY FOR HIS VOTE AGAINST ARIZONA HATE LAW!!!

The vote to cancel "Friday's withe Funk" evokes memories of Andy Kaufmann on SNL and might just be a sign that even Tea Party Reactionaries have realized the Mayor is a joke.

It's kind of a double-edged sword (or dildo for the more adventurous) . . . With so many favoring giving the Mayor the boot from the show or "repealing the segment" (ugh) Stigall would look even more like a dork if he didn't obey his smallish local audience.

What's clear is that the Mayor and his wife couldn't even keep this fringe constituency happy for very long.

It gets worse . . .

LAST NIGHT MULTIPLE REPORTS FROM THE CELEBRATION AT THE STATION REVEALED THAT MAYOR FUNKY WAS MOSTLY IGNORED BY THE CROWD AFTER HIS REMARKS!!!

One text message and then a couple of e-mails this morning confirm that Kansas City's polite embarrassment at the lame duck Mayor is significant at an event that's supposed to be about something bigger than petty politics.

What we're seeing is that Mayor Funky is political poison in Kansas City and the only thing we can count on is that the dude and his Co-Mayor wife are so horrible that they're capable of ruining Memorial Day.

  1. I was there, his applause were like golf claps.

  2. I was part of the 23% to keep Fridays With Funk.

But I'll probably be one of the 77% that vote for the other candidate next year.

  3. elBryan...

Fifty dollar fine for listening to Chris Stigall!

  4. It sounds fake to me. I think Stigall is trying to get attention and he fooled you easily Tony.

The Mayor will win reelection easily.

  5. I think Stigall was trying to find a way to dump The radioactive Funk and this was an easy out.

  6. Did you actually listen to the segment Tony?

It was tense, insulting and rude.

Stigall was out of line in the way that he talked to the Mayor and there seemed to be some genuine animosity between them. What I thought was worse is that the Mayor didn't even tackle the issue of immigration. He attempted to side step and claim it was an unnecessary cost. Stigall didn't buy it and at least one person in the segment believed what they were saying.

  7. So Stigall only wants to air guests who agree with his right wing agenda? That's not journalism, Chris.

  8. Humpty Dumpty Stigall pushed Funk right off the wall. All the Jabba the Roe soldiers could not put him back together again.

  10. The mayor will win re-election easily. He might get re-elected, but the planets will have to align and the primary will have to be crowded and he will have not say another word between now and the primary, and Gloria will have to disappear.

The applause he received was tepid at best. Probably came from the out of towners.

If the segment on Stigall (which I did not hear) was in fact tense, insulting and rude, it is no different from the way the mayor speaks to his council or his appointees or even his constituents.

  11. Anon 11:41 am -- are you referring to Stigall or Funkhouser as tense, insulting, and rude?

I'm not a Funkhouser fan, but seems that if Stigall's goal is to hear from the Mayor every Friday, he should do so without regard to whether or not the Mayor did what Stigall wanted that week or not.

  12. I think Giselle's bubbies are bad fakes.

    So is our Mayor.

  13. Just listened to Stigall's podcast. The mayor bumbled his way through Stigall's questions, which were a little terse, but were nonetheless polite. The mayor kept hiding behind saying "hundreds of police chiefs blah blah blah" and talks about his "moral conscience," blah blah blah.

And to hear the mayor talk about the e-tax and the precarious position the repeal of it would place on our city... it's interesting that the mayor was playing all sweet in the sandbox with Mark Sinquefield (sp?) while Sinquefield was pouring money into a repeal the e-tax campaign. Then Funk figured out he wasn't going to get any of that cash, and he changed his mind about the e-tax.

The guy is a loser... the primary can't come soon enough.

  14. I was there last night. When Funk was introduced I almost booed. But didn't because I didn't think an event to honor fallen troops was the place to do it.

But Tony's right. When he was introducted you could hear a pin drop. Because of the day no one wanted to boo the guy. BUT THEY DIDN'T WANT TO CHEER HIM AS WELL!

My guess is that the people who politely claped for him were guys from Topeka, Springfield and Omaha.

  15. I think Stigall wanted Funk off because of the mayor's unpopularity. He's no longer a draw.

I thnk funk's toast. I don't think anyone in town will stand with him but his wife.

    Kooties.

  16. If he wasn't so mean and hateful back in the beginning maybe he would have stood a chance. Tax payers do not want a mayor filled with getting even as a representative. Mark Funkhouser is a DEVIL. His joy comes from hurting others. It's time to pay your dues DEVIL.

  17. Remember Dec 5 "press conference"!!!5/31/10, 8:06 PM

At Liberty Memorial the morally bankrupt mayor gave a , a ,, speech? No speech is too fine a word. He talked about our impending FAILURE! He tried to whip up fire and brimstone. Our Armageddon if we did not work together... I think he was confused. That little sound bite he meant to deliver to his ugly, fat ass wife.
He was ignored. as always, but I plan to keep my foot on his neck just so he doesn't try to pop back up!

  18. 8:06... you are so right. His "speech" about "lack of trust" was too unbelievable for words. Pretty ironic, coming from this guy.

  19. Stigall is as much a journalist as Tony.

  20. Stigall is as much a mayor as Funk.

  21. Stigall has more fans than basement dweller Tony.

  22. the reaction at the memorial was typical of the Co-mayors where ever they go. Im shocked they continue to appear in public. They need to go underground for awhile.

    ReplyDelete
  23. And the FUNKHOUSER SUICIDE WATCH continues!

    ReplyDelete
  24. Listening to Stigall lecture Funkhouser was uncomfortable and I felt he sort of ambushed the guy, but after mulling it over for the weekend, I'm kind of glad Chris did it. The Mayor's vote was a political decision, not a well thought out one.

The interesting part will be waiting to see if Chris actually cancels the Fridays With Funk segment or not. I sort of feel like he doesn't really want to. This morning, Chris was reminding everyone that it's ultimately HIS decision.

I hope he brings Funkhouser back, but it would be a contradiction since he lectured Funkhouser on voting against a large majority.

  25. The mayor probably had no chance for re-election, but his vote in favor of the anti-Arizona resolution lost him any chance he had. Boycott Kansas City!
