TKC EXCLUSIVE!!! KANSAS CITY POLITICAL INSIDERS ARE ASKING: WHY IS KANSAS CITY PAYING FOR MAYOR FUNKY'S MAYORAL CAMPAIGN?!?!?!

There's a common theme in Mayor Funky's recent moves other than his completely lack of professionalism, skill, class or character.
Look at both of the images I've provided on this post and see if you can tell.

See it?
MAYOR FUNKY IS USING HIS CAMPAIGN SLOGAN IN ADVERTS PAID FOR BY KANSAS CITY PROMOTING HIS SCHOOLS FIRST MEET UP!!!
For folks who don't know, using taxpayer funds for campaign purposes is a real no-no and this comes DANGEROUSLY CLOSE to breaking campaign rules. . . If it were up to me, I'd say it goes over the line for any voter with even a bit of a memory.
The image from the 2007 campaign comes from a video I shot as a favor to Joe Miller back when Gloria Squitiro was nothing more than a City Hall inside joke or a rumor. Sadly, the theme still lingers and now nothing is left but broken campaign promises.
Additionally, City Hall insiders have asked us to think about the Sprint Center cost for what amounts to a campaign rally:
While K.C. gets to use the place for about a dozen times without having to pay the +100k fee because of the contract negotiated by Kay Barnes & Crew. The use of the place isn't totally free.
There are utilities to think about.
There is payment for staff.
And the PA system costs a pretty penny as well.
Estimates for the cost of the Mayor's Event paid for by Kansas City range anywhere from $15-20k. That's money that could fill potholes, mow lawns, keep fountains running and it's being spent on a Mayoral plan that couldn't even get out of committee.
What's worse is that the Mayor's tag line is emblazoned across the event at taxpayer expense. Those billboards don't come cheap and this town paying for a a doomed campaign for a lame duck Mayor is not at all smart with the money.
No sir, I don't like it.
ReplyDeleteBOYCOTT!
ReplyDeleteIt is because we still rely on political "clubs" to vet candidates, rather than an aggressive news media, in Kansas City.
ReplyDelete(Once again, Dan Ryan is wrong.)
Dan Ryan is wrong almost all the time, but if he said political clubs vetted the Funk he is really wrong---he must have forgotten the full court "press" by the Star to get this guy elected. But why should this surprise anyone. Joe Miller came forward and confessed to breaking the law by helping run the light rail campaign out of the Mayor's office. Then this guy threw Miller under the bus and lied when he said he didn't know what Miller was doing. By the way, what ever happened to the City Ethics Commission investigation of the Mayor on this and other allegations made by the Internal Auditor ???
ReplyDeleteCity Ethics Commission?? What a laugh!
ReplyDeleteThe only time the media will 'vet' candidates is if they get arrested for something and the prosecutor releases their dirty laundry.
ReplyDeleteWanna know about candidates? Wrap em up in crime scene tape and the media will put it on TV.
Taxpayers always pay for incumbent's reelection campaigns. That's exactly why we need term limits at every level of government.
ReplyDeleteDESPERATION! And Wrong. Funk has crossed the line one more time.
ReplyDeleteWhat's the status of the Sean Pierce lawsuit? Anyone know?`
ReplyDeleteBe ready 8:39.
ReplyDeleteThe LGBT community is ready to take the lead in improving representation for the Kansas City region for in state and county government. On Saturday, the Kansas City PRIDE Democratic Club will screen candidates for office.
It is sad to report that many candidates have already decided not to stand up and answer the tough questions that Kansas City PRIDE is known for and we will not forget that kind of cowardice. The question is not about freedoms it is about PRIDE!
Some of the "old queens"and who traditionally screened candidates in Kansas City on LGBT issues, will not be happy with our aggressive approach, but we really do not care.
Let them whine. The old queens can just go back into their closets with the even older, rich men who pay the bills for their comfortable existence. Work needs to be done and they clearly have not worked in a long time.
Kansas City PRIDE Democratic Club is ready to do the hard work of pressing politicians who tend to lie to the LGBT community year after year. If we can not find a Democrat to do the job we will look at Republicans.
We will not put up with this anymore, and we will represent our community with strength and independence.
10:27. Get OVER yourselves.
ReplyDelete10:27 Almost EVERY person in this country is a member of some minority type group, and could pick out injustices against 'their kind'. A few have merit, and depending on the area of prejudice, it is justified. But not most of the time.
ReplyDeleteIt's much like African Americans decrying the lack of head coaching jobs in the NFL. How many are qualified or have wanted to? And where are the women? Overall, there are more women (of every color) in this country than blacks alone. You don't hear NOW whining about it. So either put up or shut up. YOURS is not the only 'agenda' being neglected!
10:42 AM
ReplyDeleteWe are tired of putting up with supposed LGBT leaders who worry more about their social standing than their civil rights. Especially when some of those so called leaders are just dykes in denial or aging prettyboys. It is time to hold the Democrat party accountable. We are ready to do that.
Actually, the billboards aren't paid for by the city. They're paid for by Jim Nutter - at least that's what they say at the bottom. Which doesn't make the whole thing smell any less. Maybe even more.
ReplyDeleteThis guy is a joke
ReplyDeleteFour Freedoms is the joke. Jim MacDonalds is a joke but no one is laughing. Is your too-young boyfriend staying home much Jim?
ReplyDeleteIs there one councilperson who takes the high road in this dysfunctional group? One who hasn't stooped to backbiting, clawing, scratching their way into the papers? Can one just give a pleasant answer instead of a quote that sounds like a bad PMS day?
ReplyDeleteHey Tony, how about posting the highlights and nasty remarks they have all made during their tenure? Be fair and let none go unscathed. Let them read how foolish they sound picking on each other. Let us have a laugh while you're at it. ''P.S. Did I hear Skaggs tell his female committee members on mic that, "You "girls" did a good job today?" Careful of that mic. It pick's things up.
Glad you mentioned Dan Ryan because that guy is smoking Funk's meat pipe like it's crack. TKC maybe I missed your post on this (Please link if I did) but this could be the definition of this guy's love affair with Funkhouser.

The best chance of winning mayor this year? That guy is on drugs.
What candidate would want the endorsement of KCPRIDE anyway?
ReplyDeleteThey are on record as being fined for the worst breach of campaign finance laws in Missouri history.
Yeah, I sure would want to list their endorsement on the front of my door-hanger if I ran again.
Get real.
Isn't the Pride club just a front group that organized labor can control?
ReplyDeleteThe KC Pride Democratic Club is the real class of local political organizations. Before KC Pride was created, the LGBT community was pushed around by a small group of very rich men. Lesbians were simply without representation and no one had the political savvy of Coach Comstock. It is sad to see people tied to 4 Freedoms unable to accept that their time has passed and that the community has selected a membership-based organization to lead it into the next century. Any allegations about the worst ethics violation in Missouri history is made up. It is the old Nazi tactic of the big lie.
ReplyDelete5/14/10 2:46 PM
ReplyDeleteYou are a Goddamn liar! It is pretty clear that this is attack on the KC Pride club is being staged by the supporters of Crystal Williams, who know that they do not have a chance in the world to receive the endorsement of this prestegious and influential club because their candidate is unfit to serve. We know what you are doing.
Let's face it folks KCMO government is broke... both politically and financially.
ReplyDeleteI agree that it seems pretty obvious that Crystal Williams and her campaign has been "working" this blog today. Who else would attack the reputation of a leader like Coach Comstock? Who else would suggest that Local 42 controls a LGBT political club? Who else runs to the courts or works the blogs rather than just letting the voters have their say?
ReplyDeleteNow girls. Stop fighting.
ReplyDeleteWho mentioned Local 42 before 4:36 PM?
ReplyDeleteNow we see the mayor is offering food! Prizes! Music! magician! Fun for the whole family! Free parking! (except for "cripples")...what a fucking nightmare the co-mayors are.
ReplyDeleteThe Co-mayors and office staff are the least experienced in the history of KC.Its obvious by their circus act.
ReplyDeleteThere will not be one council person at this town hall meeting monday. Not if they want re-elected. Promise! Who would?
ReplyDelete
