TKC BREAKING NEWS!!! KYLEEN CARROL FAILS TO SUPPORT KANSAS CITY, MISSOURI SCHOOL BOARD ETHICS REFORM!!!

Remember that over the weekend we discussed some important ethics work that School Board Member Crispin Rea is leading.
Today, that ethics reform was put on hold and I hope we're not seeing what might already be a division in School Board Prez Airick L. West's Slate.
On the subject of rather straight forward ethics reform that included stricter enforcement measures and more defined limits, newbie School Board member Kyleen Carroll voted to send the policy back to committee along with the old school Board Members.
Close KCMSD watchers are hoping that it might be a procedural misstep but I'm not so optimistic. Thing is, I was never really a fan of Carroll and not just because she looks as if she stepped out of that 80's Hot For Teacher Video by Van Halen.

There was something about her rap this just seemed like the standard "Elect Me" fare and wasn't in-line the fundamental changes that West & Co. are trying to push through like the "policy governance" approach that takes Board Members out of mundane, micro-managing details.
In the end, I think that quite a few voters hope the West Slate will hold together and accomplish their goals. But this first step has already hit a road block and real progress at the policy level for the KCMSD looks as if it'll be harder to accomplish.
A SAC parent and community activist who was at the meeting tonight I find this post very dishonest. Ms. Carroll is in fact one of the co-authors of the ethics reform and working hard with Mr. Rea and Mr. Richey to ensure that we clean up the board. We expect better than this Tony.
ReplyDeleteThen explain her vote?
ReplyDeletesounds like a dad without a sac.
ReplyDeleteApparently some of the proposed changes where unconstitutional i.e. US constitution. And several of the new board members voted to send back for revisions to single out Carroll is suspect at best. Maybe board members should spend more time working on proposals during board meetings than blogging to tkc. We have short window of time and we have to get this stuff right folks.
ReplyDeleteCarrol has got a spine, backbone, and a brain. Im not worried at all. Tony, dont micro-manage. Give the board a chance.
ReplyDeleteThat's Arthur Benson line you dipshit.
ReplyDeleteSad to see Kyleen sucking on the Simmons teat too.
I'd rather see her on a stripper pole.
I can't even count the number of school board meetings I've covered, but I will tell you THIS, Tony.
ReplyDeleteIf you intend to cover the schools, youre going to have to invest some time in the weekly meetings, in talking with the members privately, and visiting some of the schools on a fairly regular basis.
I just don't think you can cover a district without getting down and dirty in the buildings, the administrators OFF THE RECORD, talking privately with teachers OFF THE RECORD who aren't AFT activists, spending some time with special ed parents, and showing up at most every BOE meeting.
I did that. I was an expert in a certain school district back in the day. You can't talk about schools authoritatively until you do that. Too many players, too much politics, too many financial influences, too many bureocrats, and the realities of political parents.
Like this new social promotion scheme. Parents throw a SHIT FIT if you hold their kids back, flunking them a grade for non performance!
You can't know that unless you understand the dynamics of parents and kids, and schools, and the trouble parents can cause!
It's easy to pot shot from afar... but not easy to understand the dynamics of schools and districts without paying your dues as a serious reporter. You just can't just show up on controversy days. You have to learn the system. Sadly, television has abandoned beat reporting in favor of crime news.
A horrible disservice to their viewers!
One line in this bullshit post says it all "Thing is, I was never really a fan of Carroll" I wonder if TKC would be a fan if she was a lighter shade of brown???
ReplyDeleteEveryone was so gung-ho to let West choose the members for them. This is what happens. Should have gone with one of the other pro-reform candidates (they existed, after all) that got the shaft.
ReplyDeleteit's all falling apart.
ReplyDeleteSour grapes. We need more elected officials who actually ask questions before mindlessly approving things. Have we not learned anything from City Hall and Funky???
ReplyDeleteIt is her connection to Kim Carlos.
ReplyDeleteWhy is it that the white people have the only smart brains in this city?
ReplyDeleteThey may be immune to corruption of the brain, the heart, and the soul. UNLIKE the browned folks piddling around the city looking for influence and handouts.
I'd do her in the ass. Then cum all over her face!
ReplyDeleteTony.1:27 is making your sight look bad.
ReplyDelete5/21/10 12:29 AM - his off bases attacks are making his site look bad. Sleazy KC Politics as usual.
