TAKE A QUICK LOOK AROUND MAYOR FUNKY'S SCHOOLS FIRST FAIL!!!

It was an awards ceremony.

Nobody said The Sprint Center Schools First Event was going to be nothing but polite golf claps for winners of mostly meaningless awards. That's something akin to a bad show business ploy . . . And most people skipped the event as far as I could tell from a quick glimpse around the arena other than parents and students eager to earn some kind of recognition.

Mayor Funky was simply complaining and pushing his $100 Million Dollar Bond Plan that has yet to make it out of committee. Along with his tax that the KCPD don't want to use his way and was mostly rejected by the Missouri House and put on the back burner.

Still, there was free popcorn provided by Kansas City Taxpayers. It was delicious.

There was also a bit of discussion in as much as most of the folks receiving awards were invited to say a few words.

But all things considered, it was pretty much an event to discuss Mayor Funky's political ambitions and nothing besides. As I left the event I noticed that The Kansas City Drum Tribe was outside and the air TOTALLY smelled like pot. It was cool and, at the very least, their song and dance was slightly more entertaining than the Mayor's ongoing desperate moves.

  2. What a complete joke and waste of time and resources. You could have held this in someone's garage. This mayor is such an embarrassment.

  15. For a hundred million.... hmm, that's a lot of taxi rides to school. Screw the sidewalks. Just send a Lincoln Towncar to pick up all these miscreants until they grow up enough to send KCPD's paddy wagon.

  17. OMG...it was worse than I ever imagined! What a total embarrassment to this city! As if we didn't have enough to be embarrassed about already! Fat, grungy hippy chicks dancing with hula hoops, an entire arena used for maybe 150 people, dispensing meaningless awards and making empty, impossible promises to neighborhood groups. Funkhouser has totally lost his mind!
