Mudfest Damage Runs At Least 15k

The port-a-potties are still on the grounds at $700 a day. They owe $10k for moving the Show Me Pride fest and I'm sure the costs will keep mounting despite the fact that I don't remember any of the bands that played.

  1. I think Seether was there, playing their cover of Wham's Careless Whisper

  2. This story misses what was the promoter's take. This may be small money so not a story. One thing's clear, the promoter isn't on top of his expenses unless he just couldn't get the porta potties outta there.

Somebody needs to be chewed for that, but I'm not sure its newsworthy.

Only the costs of replacing the grounds is newsworthy, IMHO but it does sound like the promoter's willing. Its newsworthiness diminishes unless its not fixed.

We've had... what? 3 days of sunshine to start drying the place out?

I think it would be very interesting to find out how much insurance a promoter takes out, and for what purposes? Fixing the grass? Somebody shooting somebody else because of lack of security?

I think its in the interest of concert attendees to know what's covered and what's not, and by whom--promoter, radio station? Who?

A great newspaper story of more public interest than porta-potties!

  4. RM is correct on his critique on story angle...something that is now lacking at 18th and Grand due to lack of news nose...

  5. Mudfest damage will be much higher than $15k... it will run in the many thousands of dollars.

  6. The damage will be paid by AEG. No need for all of this fuss. Penn Valley has been the site for many large gatherings through the decades. This is not Glacier National Park. It is just a park. It is still standing.

  7. Don't forget the latest round of news that has now come out: after being told that they were to keep people off the area of the park surrounding the firefighter memorial, AEG not only directed attendees to park all over the lawn there, violating their contract, they charged for parking there and pocketed the profit.
